Summary: Like Riding With Your Best Friend
Comment: I've just finished the audio version of this wonderful book, and feel like I've been riding around with my best friend for the last ten days. Each story, read with warmth and humor and compassion by the author (whose voice, incidentally, sounds just as I always imagined it would), is a treasure. The stories aren't all funny, but then, life isn't all funny either, is it? And who says Elizabeth writes only funny stuff? What they are is true, and resonant, and memorable. The audio version is fantastic, but I'll also buy the hardcover simply to have it when I want that recipe for apple pie or the directions to the hot dog place near O'Hare (among other things). Thank you, Elizabeth! Thank you SO MUCH. I'll really miss having you riding shotgun.

Summary: Disappointed!!
Comment: I have to say, unfortunately, that I was very disappointed in this book. I LOVE Elizabeth Berg and have read all her books. I love her stories, her characters, etc. and have enjoyed all her books until now. Some of the short stories that I read in this book were absolutely downright depressing and very sad. And the ones that weren't depressing just were not that good. I miss the Eliabeth Berg that Keeps your interest level so high that you don't want to put the book down. I was so excited to hear about this book because I thought a bunch of short stories would be great. I got the book the first day it came out but was very let down and disappointed. Sorry Ms. Berg but stick with your longer stories.

Summary: I ate this up!!!!!!!!!!
Comment: I was introduced to Elizabeth Berg novels about a year ago and have never looked back! I haven't read them all, but this one was so good I just had to give it the kudos it deserves! It's a rare novel that has me laughing OUT LOUD in the car as I am listening along! It is full of short stories which are very easy to get into - about real people, real women, real cravings, real feelings, real situations. I loved this book! Now I'm on the way to Cinnabon.............. :)

Summary: Good storyteller
Comment: I don't usually like to read short stories, but these are wonderful. Some are laugh-out-loud-funny, and others are quite poignant. There are a couple, though, that I didn't care for and didn't finish. Many of the stories deal with women and weight issues in very revealing ways that are easy to relate to. Highly recommended.

Summary: Elizabeth Berg is the best!
Comment: What a treat to read each of these delightful little stories. All are different but share a thread that makes this writer the inciteful relationship sharer she is! We experience ourselves in these poignant and funny stories.

Editorial Reviews:

Exhilarating short stories of women breaking free from convention

Every now and then, right in the middle of an ordinary day, a woman rebels, kicks up her heels, and commits a small act of liberation.

What would you do, if you were going to break out and away? Go AWOL from Weight Watchers and spend an entire day eating every single thing you want–and then some? Start a dating service for people over fifty to reclaim the razzle-dazzle in your life–or your marriage? Seek comfort in the face of aging, look for love in the midst of loss, find friendship in the most surprising of places?

Imagine that the people in these wonderful stories–who do all of these things and more–are asking you: What would you do, if nobody was looking?
