Summary: Walt Disney's white fang
Comment: Please bring this classic film to Widescreen . I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this film to come to Widescreen . I will not buy this until it has Widescreen. It deserves much more respect than just low grade Full screen. !!

Summary: Silly Disney
Comment: Fun Ethan Hawke movie about a wolf, yet a miserable Jack London adaptation. I can never understand why movie script writers believe that they are better at telling a story than a great author . . like Jack London! White Fang could have been adapted to a movie by simply following London's book. Why make up a whole different story and refer to it as an adaptation? Again, this is just a silly Disneyism.

Summary: Wonderful family movie...
Comment: An excellent movie to watch with the family. There are some intense scenes in the beginning but the movie as a whole can be viewed by all. It is an exciting story of how a young man follows in his fathers footsteps to pan for gold. Along the way he makes friends and a few enemies. The movie brings the young man and the dog along their paths at different times in their lives. The ending is great.

Summary: Good movie ---but nothing like the book
Comment: I had read White Fang with my 8th graders recently and thought it might be good to compare with the movie. WOAH! Who is Jack? Where was Weedon Scott? Gray Beaver is actually kind of a nice guy in this movie. It was a good adventure movie, but if you are expecting it to be like the book, think again. It WAS good to show the students that movies aren't always accurate to the book, and that was a good lesson to teach. I would have liked this production to be truer to the novel, but not a bad movie to enjoy with the family.

Editorial Reviews:

Jack London's immortal tale of courage and survival comes to glorious life amid the breathtaking beauty of the great Alaskan frontier! Ethan Hawke (DEAD POETS SOCIETY) stars as a young man trying to fulfill his father's dying wish to find gold in the treacherous Yukon valley. His incredible journey begins when he meets a veteran gold miner (Klaus Maria Brandauer), who guides young Jack to his father's claim. Along the way, Jack discovers a kindred spirit who will change his life forever -- a magnificent wolf-dog named White Fang. From the taming of a wolf, to the taming of the wild, he must find the courage to conquer his fears and become a man in this spectacular outdoor adventure!
