Customer Rating: Summary: Teachers Redux Comment: This movie was a satirical appraisal of the American educational system. This film was released in 1983, but some elements are still true to this day. I recommend this film.
Customer Rating: Summary: Scary and prophetic, but funny Comment: This movie is a good comical slap at the decaying state of education and what it means for the country. And a good comedy along the way.
It brings up the analogy that modern schools are still too close to the cliche "Factory" era schooling that was made to get the working class just literate enough to operate equipment but keep them too uncreative to revolt. But beyond that, another neat modern comment about them made in it too.
I won't spoil it. It's when Nick Nolte goes to cheer up his friend after he's had part of his hand bitten off... Funniest part of the whole movie!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: One of the best movies I've ever seen Comment: This is one of the best movies I ever saw. It shows what is actually happening in our schools. You do have to realize it is condensed in to a two hour movie, but what you see in the movie is true. I am so glad they finally made it on a DVD.
Customer Rating: Summary: Review of "Teachers" Comment: I saw this movie years ago, long before I became a high school librarian. Watching it again makes me realize that even though this movie came out in 1984, some things never change within the teaching profession. There are so many real life examples that fit the stereotypes depicted in this movie and I am talking about teachers, administrators, students, and parents. In fact, I loaned this movie to our school psychologist and he used it in his class to get his students to identify, by name, which teachers the characters in the movie reminded them of. The students really got into the movie even though it was released long before they were born. I think every teacher should watch this movie just to remind them how much better they could be.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hard to Find Comment: My sister in law has been looking for this movie for a long time. I found it for here on Amazon. I'm a hero, not to mention she is a teacher and just loves this movie.
