Customer Rating: Summary: 40 Carats DVD NOW!!! Comment: It is time this film was brought out on DVD so that younger generations can discover its magic for themselves.
Customer Rating: Summary: What a gem of a movie. Comment: I was describing this movie to my hairdresser the other day. I had seen it years before but it is rarely shown anymore. The Greece background was beautiful and the romance was totally believable. Growing up watching Gene Kelly in musicals it was fun to watch him play a non-singing role.
I don't have a vhs player anymore, so please get it released on DVD.
Customer Rating: Summary: Please! A DVD of 40 Carats Comment: 40 Carats was a fairy tale story, with the perfect prince charming played by Edward Albert, Jr. I saw it once several years ago, enjoyed it, and above all, never forgot Edward and his charming presence. When I saw it again recently, I felt the same. (Looking up Edward's biography, I was saddened to learn of his death at the early age of 55.) I felt the casting of Liv Ullman a little strange, but not completely wrong. The casting of the two made the disparity between the qualities of the two lovers intriguing and mystifying as to why they were attracted to each other. Albert's sweetness in the role of the young lover was a total contrast with Ullman's somewhat cynical and hard-nosed portrait of the older woman. The thought crossed my mind as to what they would be 20 years later. But that really wasn't part of the story. It ended where all fairy tales should end ... in the presumed forevermore happiness of the two.
Whoever has the power to do so, please heed the pleas of most of the reviewers of this film and issue it on DVD.
Customer Rating: Summary: DVD Please!! Comment: I have this movie on a 25 year old VHS tape. When oh when will you give us the DVD? Also A Town Like Alice with Bryan Brown. On my tapes of these two films all I have left is screen flickers and a little sound. Please help Amazon. In the past you have given me films that I thought I would never see again. Help Help please.
Customer Rating: Summary: DVD Please!! Comment: I, too, saw this movie when it came out in the theaters. It has an outstanding cast. I fell in love with Greece and have wanted to go there ever since I saw this movie. Now that I am, ahem, older, I also appreciate the May-December aspect even more than I did when I saw it in my twenties. Not a perfect movie, but a really outstanding romantic comedy. I have been waiting for the DVD for years as have many others it seems. Who has to see this to get it done!?!
