Customer Rating: Summary: spring break rules Comment: great movie from the 80's. needs to be released on dvd asap. this movie gives you an idea how the life was back in the 80's. the 80's rocked and so did this movie
Customer Rating: Summary: Classic 80s Movie Comment: I used to watch Spring Break a lot in the 80s. It was on one of the cable movie channels just about every week during the summer of '84. (I was a bored, unemployed kid) As a teen, I wasn't looking for any depth to this movie and as an adult, I still don't expect any - IT'S CALLED "SPRING BREAK"! So, if you understand that you are viewing a movie that is born out of the grind house films of the 70s and is nothing like "Beaches," you should be in the right mindset to enjoy this film for what it is.
It's fluffy escapism - beer, babes, guys, cars, beer, belly flop contests, beer, etc. Over the years, it has also become a bit of a time capsule to the spirit of 1983, the year it was released. I guess it's kind of like my generation's Annette Funicello "beach" movies, but with more drinking and innuendo.
The director, Sean S. Cunningham, also directed "Friday the 13th" (the original). I'd argue that in the same way "Friday the 13th" is considered a "classic" of the teen slasher genre, "Spring Break" should be considered a "classic" of the teen beach party genre (if there is such a thing).
You won't be left analyzing this film when it's over, but perhaps you will feel refreshed after taking a trip back in time and escaping reality for 90 minutes.
And, yes, this deserves to be on DVD!
Customer Rating: Summary: good cheesy fun! Comment: I bought this VHS for personal reasons, but that's another story entirely. Anyway, I gave this movie 4 stars because it's just a goofy, cheesy typical 80's teen movie that you can have fun watching with buddies and laugh at. It's a great way to spend an evening it you are bored and have nothing better to do.
Customer Rating: Summary: what doesnt kill us, makes us stronger Comment: the stark portrayal of the lead character and his erstwhile examination of his deep seated rascist feelings makes this film a must see for anyone who has asked the question "am i okay?". For the large number of us (me included!) who may have been beaten or molested at a young age or otherwise suffered emotional abuse due to being both a minority AND gay will feel vidicated by this film. Spring break is David Knell's "White" album.
Customer Rating: Summary: A MUST VIEW if you were a young guy in the 1980's Comment: Any guy that was young in the 1980's and remembers the thrill of getting completely away from your parents to go on a road trip with your buddies in search of cold beer and hot girls will absolutely love this movie! THIS MUST BE RELEASED ON DVD!!
