Summary: Fast Easy and Dependable Worth the Money
Comment: I have used a few other products and they were junk but the Braun IRT4520 gets the job done. Light weight and easy to use and durable. I like the battery option using two AA's than others who have the small flat disk types. When it comes to my kids health I want to get the information quickly and comfortable as I can. I found that this thermoscan worked so well I bought two of them one for me and one as a gift.

Summary: Good product, but needs some improvements
Comment: Sturdy and easy to use. My 2-year-old kid loves having her temp taken with this thing. In fact she can do it herself.
However, if you take two readings from the same ear in quick succession, the readings can vary as much as 1 degree. That makes me wonder how accurate and consistent this thing is.
Separately, the display is not back-lit, and this is an inconvenience when taking temperatures in the dark.

Comment: I almost didn't buy an ear thermometer because my Pediatrician will only accept an rectal temp but my kids are too squirmy for that - even when they are sick. However, every time I have taken a rectal temp the temperature has matched the ear temp exactly. In the middle of the night, when my daughter is crying so hard that she can't talk - it is a life saver. I know within 3 seconds if I am dealing with a suprise fever or a just a bad dream.

Comment: We replaced an earlier model of the Thermoscan with the 4520. It seems to be great quality, painless, quick, easy to use and effective. Highly recommended.

Summary: Never worked right
Comment: We received this item as a gift and it has never worked correctly. From the start it kept saying "low battery". The batteries are very diffictult to change out and the ear piece never fit in my preemie daughter's ear. We use a different ear thermometer that is so easy my daughter (now two) can even work herself! I would not recommend this product to anyone!! It has been a piece of junk from the start and no end of frustration and money with the lithium batteries!!
