Customer Rating: Summary: handy tool to have around the house Comment: I'm not a heavy user of saws, but the 'manual' I already have takes too much effort for even the most minor tasks. (Occasional 2X4, tree branches, wood door. For under $100 (october-2008) this has helped be knock off a few more things on my home-improvement-to-do-list. Its a bit heavier than expected and the charge seems to run out more quickly than I expected, but it does the job well and the price is very competitive. If comes with 2 blades.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't buy NiCads Comment: Save yourself time n money.....only buy milwaukee with 19/28 v Li Ions. The nicads are expensive JUNK read al the reviews on them...........
Customer Rating: Summary: Great reciprocating saw. Comment: I have used other brands of reciprocating saws in the past and never been impressed. I purchased the Hatchet because of a job that required a lot of cutting in confined areas and this thing worked great. The ability to pivot the handle and install the blade either up of down proved to be very versatile. I now see why Milwaukee has such a good reputation with their Sawzalls.
Customer Rating: Summary: Milwaukee 18 volt---Exceptional! Comment: Excellent item! The battery only lasts through about 16 boards though, so I suggest getting an additional battery.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice as long as it lasts Comment: I bought my hatchet brand new about a year and a half ago, largely because of Milwaukee's 5 year warranty, and reputation. It worked great for light duty odds and ends, and tight spaces up until a few weeks ago when the gearbox or something in the drive system failed entirely. The motor still runs, but the blade no longer moves. I've yet to see if Milwaukee will stand behind it, the last time I send something in for electrical work under warranty they claimed it wasn't their problem.

Anyone who has tried working with a Sawzall in cramped quarters and making cuts in confined spaces will appreciate the Hatchet's multiposition folding handle, which reduces the tool's length to a mere 13 inches. While this is a truly innovative design for a reciprocating saw, the fact that this is also the first cordless Sawzall with a vibration-reducing counterbalance mechanism should not be overlooked. This is a feature many of us have been waiting to see in the cordless Sawzall, and it is especially appreciated in uncomfortably close quarters, where any extra vibration and shock just makes your job more difficult. The Hatchet also has a different trigger configuration than other reciprocating saws. When the handle is folded, it feels like a cordless-drill grip and trigger, and when the saw is extended to its full length, it feels like the barrel grips found on grinders. This trigger setup is great when the handle is folded, but not as ideal when the tool is at its full length and being used like a traditional Sawzall. As with Milwaukee's other Sawzalls, this one features the excellent tool-free blade-changing system that reverses the blade when needed, and it has a fully adjustable pivoting shoe. The Hatchet's tough motor provides 2,700 strokes per minute, comparable to other top-of-the-line cordless reciprocating saws, and the tool uses the same reversible 18-volt Power Plus battery as other Milwaukee cordless tools. This kit comes with the Hatchet, a 2.4 amp-hour battery pack, a carrying case, a universal charger, and two blades. For remodelers, plumbers, and electricians, we think there's no better cordless reciprocating saw available. --Brian Trinen
