Customer Rating: Summary: Worst Purchase Ever Comment: i'm sure it's not that i have a defective one or anything, i just hate this epilator. i'd never tried epilating before, and after researching it, bought this one. i was really excited to use it, but it sucks! i could only ever stand the pain AT ALL using on my underarms, and there it only removes about 1/2 the hairs, even if you spend a long time doing it.
DON'T BUY THIS.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best. Epilator. EVER!!! Comment: After using the battery-operated EpiLady Traveler for a couple of months, I got fed up with the batteries running down after only a few minutes of use and the slow rate of leg-hair removal. Ordered the Braun Soft Perfection with AC adapter, and am AMAZED at what a fantastic job it does, with virtually no discomfort. It seems to remove more hair faster, without the annoyance of having to replace batteries after virtually every use.
Customer Rating: Summary: long lasting effects Comment: I love this product. It works great and it lasts a lot longer than shaving! The product is not very painful and definately worth a try.
Customer Rating: Summary: BEWARE OF PERMANENT SCARS! doesnt work that well anyway Comment: This product has left my legs completely scarred. It is horrible! I exfoliated regularly to prevent ingrowns but had a problem anyway, then they started getting infected and left horrible scars all over even months after I stopped epilating. You may think you will save time by not having shave everyday, but its not worth it and the epilator never even worked that well anyway. It looked like my skin was smooth when i used it, but to the touch i was still very spikey! Don't waste your money, spare your skin and stick to shaving. You will be happy you did!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Hate shaving? Get an epilator!! Comment: I've had this epilator for a few years now. I've been using it off and on during those few years. Let me first describe my situation. I have PCOS. One of the side effects of PCOS is excess hair. In other words, I'm one of those gals who could shave in the morning and have a 5 o'clock shadow by, well, 5 o'clock. The reason why I decided to buy an epilator and stop shaving is because my skin is sensitive and my legs would become irritated from having to shave daily. Not to mention that you could see the hair underneath my skin. I figured that the epilator would work well since it pulls the hair from the root.
Now let's discuss first time use. In terms of pain, yes, it hurts. But it's true that the more you use it, the less it hurts. When you first epilate, be sure to grow your hair out for a week or more. Longer hair will hurt more to remove but hair grows in different stages so if the hair is too short, you'll be disappointed when more hair grows in the next day. Be sure to pull your skin tight so the tweezers can grab the hair more easily.
Personally, I can go about a week without having to epilate. Sometimes I need to touch up certain areas but it doesn't take more than 5 minutes in the morning. And like I mentioned above, the tweezers pull hair out from the root so you can't see the hair below the skin. Another bonus is that I've noticed the hair on my legs thinning and growing much slower even when I don't use the epilator.
The reason for the 4 stars is because you absolutely must exfoliate daily or you will get ingrown hairs. I don't know why my legs act this way but even when I exfoliate, my legs begin to tingle after a few days as the hair tries to poke through the skin. I've tried many different exfoliating products and lotions but it still happens. And because of this, I can't epilate for a few days because my skin hurts. It's tough to keep epilating when I have this problem so I switch between shaving and epilating every month or so.
I wouldn't recommend this product to everyone. If you have excess hair or you need to shave daily, I'd recommend it. If you consider hair removal to be an everyday problem, I'd recommend it. If, however, you have little to no hair, you don't have to shave everyday, and you have no tolerance for pain, I'd stick to shaving.
