Summary: Quad revisited with 2007 technology. Wow
Comment: Well this is what Quadrophonic was promising in the late 60's, however with a quality that we could never have dreamed of then. The full effect of the project as only they heard it when they recorded originally can be heard in your listening room. The better your system and the better the set up brings you as close as you will ever get to "being there." That's because this remix will never be the weakest link. It is outstanding.

Old and new at the same time. There is nothing else like it for this reason.

Summary: The Sound Track of my life.
Comment: An album totally driven by emotion, there's nothing fake or plastic in it. A master piece.

Summary: Dark Side of the Moon
Comment: Music originally recorded on analog tape AND mastered correctly, as was Dark Side of the Moon, make digital re-issues of any format a mute point. While SACD is a step in the right direction, even well-kept, original vinyl is superior. The vinyl, half-speed, two-channel master recording by Stereophile(long out of print)is the best way to experience DSM. Listen to music as it was recorded, not by electronically enhanced bits and bytes. Analog to digital reviews are a waste when the original format is obtainable.

Summary: Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon 30th SACD Edition
Comment: This is still the best rock/opera style recording of all time, in my opinion, of course. The sounds are mystical, dreamy and creative. The mix of guitar, drum and special effect sounds are still mind altering. Thank you Pink Floyd for this all time classic.

Editorial Reviews:

Dark Side of the Moon, originally released in 1973, is one of those albums that is discovered anew by each generation of rock listeners. This complex, often psychedelic music works very well because Pink Floyd doesn't rush anything; the songs are mainly slow to mid-tempo, with attention paid throughout to musical texture and mood. The sound effects on songs like "On the Run," "Time" and especially "Money" (with sampled sounds of clinking coins and cash registers turned into rhythmic accompaniment) are impressive, especially when we remember that 1973 was before the advent of digital recording techniques. This is probably Pink Floyd's best-known work, and it's an excellent place to start if you're new to the band. --Genevieve Williams
