Summary: Brittle and not waterproof
Comment: I went through three of these units--one was replaced after about 3 hours on the phone with technical assistance. That one broke shortly after warantee. On a Sunday day condensation appeared beneath the screen and hours later the screen went dead. The new one suffered the the same fate after a rainy day. They're supposed to be waterproof to 10m. A third was gifted to me and now that I'm two months past warantee it won't charge. In all don't bother.

Summary: Very helpful and easy to use
Comment: This product is great! It makes it easy to know exactly how fast and how far I'm running as I train. I'm following a training schedule, which is very specific about the distances and pace I'm supposed to run, and this tool makes it very easy. I'm glad I purchased the one with the rechargeable battery. The batteries only last a few days, so it's convenient to just be able to plug it in and recharge it.

Summary: forerunner 201 out of date
Comment: I love the forerunner 201. I've used one for over 2 years to track my runs. I can keep track of my pace, distance, calories burned, and even keep a record of bike trips. Unfortunately, Garmin hasn't updated the device to allow me to connect this newly purchased forerunner with my 2008 computer. Their customer service department has been unable to help me with the problem and I may be forced to return this device and purchase something that is compatible with my computer.

Comment: I'm extremely happy with the Garmin Forerunner 201. It does everything I need and is simple to use. This is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone looking at an exercise tool to keep you on track. I really can't say enough good things about it and the service I received. It's simple and it works.

Summary: Good... when it works.
Comment: When it works, it's terrific. Problem is that it's inconsistent in picking up GPS satellite. I start my runs from the same location every time and the 201 varies in its pickup of signal even though it's the same time, same location, same weather. Some days it works without a hitch -- and on other days, it will not pick up a signal even though it had no problem the day before. It will drop the GPS in the middle of a run in inconsistent places (again, I generally run the same route), and when it finally picks it up again it can misjudge the mileage by up to a half-mile. I know it's not top-of-the-line, but I would expect a company with Garmin's reputation to provide a better product. I'm hoping the 205 does a better job.
