Customer Rating: Summary: 3 hours later and my eyes are still burning! Comment: This product is NOT for people with sensitive eyes and skin. I applied this under my eyes and it stung a little bit within 15 minutes. However, an hour later, I was running to the sink to wash my face because my eyes were burning so much it felt like I just finished cutting a very fresh onion.
I've been putting fake tear drops in my eyes since then, but my eyes are still burning and I washed my face 3 hours ago. It didn't do a thing for my dry skin under my eyes, though I admit I only left it on for an hour. I never touched my eye area after applying it until I washed my face.
The positive is that this was a free sample from Sephora and I didn't waste my money on it.
Customer Rating: Summary: This Product Has Formaldehyde and Stings My Eyes! Comment: Like the Hope in a Jar by philosophy, this product has diazolidinyl urea, a formaldehyde releaser (You can look it up on Wikipedia). It's towards the end of the ingredients list, so there's not a lot of it, but still, I do not want to have formaldehyde (It's a fixative. You can also look it up on Wikipedia) any where near my face, especially around my eyes where my skin is the most sensitive. Before I had started paying attention to ingredients in general, I had tried using this cream because I had gotten it as a gift. Within 5 minutes after applying, my eyes would start watering so much that I'd have to wash this off. I would never recommend this product to anyone.
Customer Rating: Summary: My lips have never hurt so much... Comment: My lips have never hurt so much as they did after using the Philosophy Hope in a Tube Eye & Lip Cream. I have had this product in my makeup bag for 6 months now. And every time I use it, I have some type of reaction to it. If I use it around my eyes...the skin gets really dry and peels. If I use it on and around my lips...they burn and swell and tiny little blisters form. Matter of fact, I tried this product again this afternoon. I wanted to see, since I hadn't used it for a couple of months, if I still would have a reaction to it. Sure enough, within minutes, I had the usual reactions. Needless to say, this will be money down the drain for me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Hate it! Comment: I used this as an eye & lip cream while sleeping and the next day, I noticed those areas were more tender than usual. Several days later after I continued to use it, the skin around my eyes and lips were red, swollen and puffy, horribly sensitive and it looked as if I had severe wind/sun burn. I stopped using it and my skin cleared up. I won't go near this stuff again and I'll be more cautious about using new products, especially those from Philosophy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect Makeup Prep Comment: If you have dry skin under and around your eyes as well as around yor lip area, particularly wear crows feet and laugh lines reside . . . this is absolutely the best cream to have for smoothing those over before you put on your foundation.
It's rich and creamy . . . a little goes a long way. It didn't make me break out at all and is a superior moisturizer for those areas. you can also smooth a small dot (don't get it in your eyes) on top of your lids to help your eyeshadow "stick" better.
I never found it to irritate my eyes and the moisture stayed with me all day. Make sure you dab it in well so that your makeup doesn't slide off.
As far as long-term effects for lines and wrinkles decreasing, I have't noticed anything blatantly obvious, but the moisture alone is well worth the price.
