Comment: after my sears garage door opener quit working I was sure I was going to have to replace it, boy was I wrong! This kit made the repair job a breeze. A Guy
(or Gal) could do this simple repair in about 2 hours and save a lot of money. no special tools required to change the sprocket(the worm gear was fine) thanks Amazon!

Comment: And I had this installed in about 2 hours, plus time for tweaking. I agree you could get the less expensive set and assemble the shaft pieces yourself. The instructions were simple. I didn't have to label anything, just unscrew, unplug the electrical, desemble, change out the parts, re-install and plug it back in. The tweaking was the worst part. I recommend leaving the cover of the main unit off until you get it to operate right. (just remember to unplug it before you work on it again)

Comment: Very nice, high quality. Unfortunately, my garage door had new springs that were installed improperly by a BAD contractor, and the tension was all wrong, which caused the first worm drive to wear out. The new one only lasted 3 weeks before it wore out. My advice--make sure your door springs are properly adjusted BEFORE you change out these gears, otherwise you'll have to do what I just did and buy a second set of gears! The instructions are VERY easy to follow, however, so I don't mind doing it again. Don't tell my wife, but it was a pretty fun repair job!
