Summary: la mancha saffron
Comment: Although I have not tried the product yet, I was a bit taken aback when I saw the 2006 date, since the saffron was advertised as NEW CROP and cost a bit more. However, the container was lovely and the product came promptly.

Saffron is unquestionably the world's most expensive spice, and with good reason. Dried stigmas of the crocus flower must be hand picked from the flower. It takes over five thousand stigmas to produce one ounce. Quality assurance is most important in purchasing saffron. Our saffron is made from the full stems and not ground-up pieces that can easily be adulterated. Saffron is a necessary ingredient for paella and bouillabaisse. It is also delicious in many different desserts, especially those containing rice. A little goes a long way.
