Customer Rating: Summary: Demeter Pick Me Up Cologne - Devils Food Comment: What can I say? This smells just the way it's supposed to: like devil's food cake. Or, as my husband puts it, "like a Hostess cupcake". I guess the fact that he pretends to eat my arm when I wear it is a good sign, eh?
My only complaint is, the scent doesn't seem to last very long...so, if you're going to be someplace for a long time and want to consistently smell delicious, I'd recommend bringing the bottle along and freshening up after a few hours.
I'll definitely be trying some of Demeter's other fragrances...if I can ever decide which one(s) to buy first!
Customer Rating: Summary: 5 Stars for Tomato and Honeysuckle, but not for all the scents! Comment: My 5 star review is for the two fragrances I own, Tomato and Honeysuckle. The former smells like my ripening vines in the hot sun. It is a perfect, natural, spicy scent that I like to wear in September through November. It is not overpowering in the least, rather subtly noticeable. My husband is always trying to kiss my neck when I'm wearing this one, so obviously he likes it too.
Honeysuckle is a remarkable approximation of actual honeysuckle scent. It is a heavier scent than the tomato, so I only spritz once for honeysuckle, but the floral quality is lovely and I wear it all spring through the summer.
People have noted that the scents dissipate with time. I agree, but I see that as a mark of their high quality. There is nothing worse than a perfume that just stays and stays. All of my favorite perfumes are fleeting, and these are no exception. I far prefer the transience to the more oppressive, heavy, and persistent perfumes that never seem to lighten up.
I have also smelled in the store (but do not own) some of the sweets-inspired scents, and I hated them! I loath any of the cakes and cookies. Obviously some people love them, but I would never wear them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun, easy to take with you scents Comment: I happened to find a bottle of Greenhouse scent by Demeter in TJ Maxx for only $5, so thought I would give it a try, since I have read about it. The scent is lovely, soft, but not long lasting. I found if I sprayed some on my clothes, it lasted longer. I went to their website, and found dozens of scents to choose from, some sounding odd but interesting...(Play Doh,Funeral Home?)There are lots of specials on the website, free gifts, etc. I really like the size of the bottle. Great for keeping in your purse. I look forward to receiving my order of 3 small sprays...they aren't expensive, and fun to try.
Customer Rating: Summary: Scents I've tried so far... Comment: New Zealand - this one is green with a slight stoney bite to it. Unisex. Overall, it smells like assorted greenery and cold water.
Rain - a somewhat generic, but still very pleasing aquatic. Anyone who likes 'blue' and 'white' scents will like it.
Wet Garden - Has a wet sappy smell, with a background of clean pink flowers. Most should find it agreeable... you could probably wear it around the headache-prone people in your life.
Watermelon Lollipop - Simple, tart and sweet, candy-ish. A lot like a watermelon Jolly Rancher.
Sour Apple Lollipop - See above. ^_^ Same Jolly Rancher vibe.
Cosmopolitan Cocktail - Smells like Smarties candy at first, but when it warms, it matures a bit, and a mellow cranberry scent takes over.
Pomegranate - I didn't get a real pomegranate feel from this one, but it's still very nice, with a dark berry scent.
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
Yes, most of these DO smell like alcohol in the bottle. They're alcohol based, so put them on and give them a chance to warm up, then you'll have the true fragrance.
They DON'T have real lasting power. (Again, because of the alcohol.)
Just because a scent works for someone else doesn't mean it'll work for you, and vice versa. Listen to all of these reviews knowing that. ^_^
Customer Rating: Summary: Great earthy scent. Comment: My husband wears this every day. Sometimes he layers it with grass for a more complex scent.
