Customer Rating: Summary: The Wire - Season 2 Comment: If you like your Police drama's raw and gritty, this is the show for you. Dominic West is sensational as "McNulty" and is supported by a stellar cast. Once you start watching you can't stop. If you enjoy Police drama in the vein of "The Shield" you will certainly enjoy "The Wire".
Customer Rating: Summary: Better than the 1st season, but far from being "greatness" Comment: Like the previous season, The Wire: The Complete Second Season builds a terrific premise and a lovingly crafted story with details and intrigue that gets your attention. The season's story about the docks and the falling working class in America is a very interesting premise and story that needs to be seen and heard. However, I feel like the creators create these great scenarios, and stories, but fail to deliver the show it clearly could have been.
As with the last season of the wire, The Wire: The complete second season fails to deliver as a TV show. Despite this however, I must admit the season is definitely stronger than the first with the resonating premise about the working class which easily surpasses the minute details of the last season drug trade. Good stuff, but not great TV exactly.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not to be missed! Comment: Anyone who loves excellent Television, exquisite Writing, amazing Acting, and profound Social Commentary
owes it to themselves to watch each and every episode of " The Wire "... This is far and away the best TV show I've ever seen, and it's absolutely worth owning on DVD... the commentaries are brilliant, and you will want to watch every episode over and over again...
Customer Rating: Summary: The Wire Season 2 Comment: The Wire is the best drama to have been produced by American television in a long, long time - far superior to such faux realist soaps as The Sopranos. The acting is of a uniformly high standard and is not disfigured by the attitudinizing that comes with star performers. It is instructive to compare the first season of The Wire with the movie American Gangster that covers similar ground. The latter is a decent thriller but the two stars, Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe ultimately get in the way of a convincing narrative simply by being Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. In The Wire there are no obvious lead characters and the actors are all (to me anyway) unknown. Some of the portrayals are truly outstanding. The first season focused on drug trafficking in the projects and showed both the police and dealers in equal measure, each from their own side. The second season takes the same approach in dealing with shenanigans in the Baltimore docks. The plot is complex and sorting it out is made challenging by the sometimes difficult to follow dialog. But the effort is worth it: I cannot recommend the program highly enough.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Service Comment: I received my order with such a fast turnaround that I was pleasantly suprised. I was so used to waiting a full 2 weeks before recieving my order that I expected the same with this particular purchase. Thanks for the great service.
