It is a typical sterling silver band. I only gave it 4 stars because I didn't particularly like the roundness and I don't think it's well represented in the picture. I prefer flatter style rings. Even though, it fit well (the sizing chart works) and came quickly. Customer Rating: Summary: Thin ring Comment: 3 mm is much thinner than 5mm. I also bought a 5mm ring and am much happier with it. There is nothing wrong with this ring, I just like the way the thicker ring looks on my hand.
