Customer Rating: Summary: BAD, BAD, BAD EPSON RX620 Comment: While this printer does do a beautiful job printing in vivid color, the paper feed is a nightmare. This is my 3rd replacement or refurbished printer Epson support has sent me. All have this problem!!! The first one I purchased at Costco and after a week or so of printing, it pulled near 25 sheets at once and broke something. The 2nd replacement did the same. This 3rd one has me SEEING RED as it too is messing up on paper feed and alignment. And you can never replace the print head...you must replace the entire printer. SAVE YOUR MONEY and get something else like a Canon. AND EPSON SUPPORT IS A JOKE - Epson's phone support sends you out to the Philippines....with people that merely go through scripted talking points and never offering up a solution to the problem you're calling about. There is a communication barrier and a half second time delay over the phone. Its like a bad cellular connection and what's worse, while the folks are polite, they are not trained to take things any further then running basic tests any print novice already has done prior to making the call and waiting on-hold. To that end, I will never buy another Epson product as they don't support their products well. Bad, Bad, Bad - 3 strikes, you're out!
Customer Rating: Summary: don't buy, stupid features and requirements Comment: This is an absolute piece of junk. Do not buy. I usually have high tolerances for non-perfect equipment but this is going way too far.
My biggest complaint? YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT ALL INKS BEING AVAILABLE! This doesn't sound bad initially since its a printer and all but realize this means you can't print in B&W only if you're out of color. You can't print only in blues if the red is out. You can't do anything.
Once even one of the ink cartridges are out, you basically do not have a printer anymore. Even the damn scanner/copier won't work without color cartridges. Its the dumbest feature ever.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great at first, then look out... Comment: I did a great deal of research approximately 2 years ago when I bought this printer, and at the time, I thought I'd made a good decision, especially considering I paid $320.00. I was getting it for my fiancée's greeting card program, as she loves to design and print cards for special events in our families and at our church (birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy, also flyers, business cards, address labels, etc.), and we wanted a true print to the edge printer and the RX620 was highly recommended by a lady at a greeting card forum (yes, they do exist).
However, while it does print excellent photos and cards, it does so only when it wants to. Many sheets of expensive premium photo paper, greeting card stock and ink have been wasted over the past 2 years. Either the RX620 fails to print to the edge (which leaves an unsightly white strip along the edge of an otherwise professional looking greeting card or photo that has to be trimmed away). The RX620 also is very picky about when the print heads need to be cleaned, like halfway through printing what would have otherwise been a keeper photo or greeting card. One half looks very professional, while the second half looks like a budget printer printed it - washed out, banding, etc.
As others stated, the musical ink cartridges does get tiring, but I can understand that if you really want quality results. However, having to run a print head cleaning after each cartridge install (as recommended by Epson) is a sure fire way to use ink more rapidly in the remaining tanks that are nowhere near empty (it has 6 cartridges).
And as another reviewer, Amellia Camellia said, we are now getting an error message stating: "Service required - Parts inside your printer are near the end of their service life. See your printer documentation." The printer documentation is no help, and neither is the button in the error message that promises Online Support. The Online Support is no help whatsoever. And neither is Epson support, because they sent me an E-mail informing me to take it to an authorized Epson repair facility, but since it was out of warranty, to be aware that the cost of repair may be more than the purchase price of a new printer. Nice, huh? They would not even offer an apology, let alone a new discounted printer. I would be very distrustful of a company that manufactures a product to need repair within a specific time period. I never had that problem with my old HP PSC 950, and I miss it.
Bottom line, stay away from this printer at all cost. I'm again in search of a great All-In-One, but may have to settle for a photo dedicated printer. But it will not be an Epson, as they seem to design their expensive printers to fail at a predetermined point to increase sales of their other printers. Needless to say, Epson will never again `grace' our household. Leonard
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't buy this printer! Comment: This is a nightmare! It won't DO ANYTHING WITHOUT INK. I mean, it won't SCAN. The ink is sooo expensive. It is a HOG! Constant error messages regarding ink. The black ink tank alone was $20.75 (multiply that by 5 for all the cartridges). Don't buy this printer. Go with HP, or something else, anything else!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good all in one unit Comment: I have had this all in one printer/scanner/copier for about 18 months now and am very pleased with it, indeed. The Scanner is just so much easier to use than my previous scanner (which was a standalone Hewlett Packard) and does not have the constant niggles that beset this standalone scanner that went before it.
Print quality is excellent particularly on photos. Be aware though that this printer is very paper sensitive on photos and will give crap results on thicker photo paper such as double sided sheets. I find that using lightweight glossy photo paper achieves the opposite and gives superb results. The net result of which is do not use heavy photo paper in this unit.
The LCD display screen which gives you the menu of all the unit's various functions is very bright and clear. What's more it is really easy to use too, and it is a breeze to scroll up and down between various functions.
As for space, yes it is a large unit but does it take up as much space as a standalone printer and a standalone scanner? No it does not and accordingly has freed up some much needed space on my PC workstation.
