- light weigh
- A lot of torque settings (16)
- Extra Battery - must !
- Ultra-fast battery recharge (25 minutes)
- Not expensive (comparing to other Makita and Bosch drill drivers)
What I don't like:
- Nothing !
Summary:
I think that this tool is perfect !
Customer Rating: Summary: Indispensable home tool Comment: I bought this as a replacement for my seven year old 9.6 volt (or something like that) Makita drill. The only reason I replaced it was because after seven years of pretty steady household/basement refinishing/etc. use, the two rechargeable batteries finally died. The price of two batteries was nearly that of a drill upgrade (12 volt) with two batteries. The previous model was an incredibly reliable, versatile and indispensable home tool. I have great expectations for this one, too. So far it's great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Makita 6270 12-volt drill/driver Ni-Cad Kit Comment: Do the math. The bats are $46.xx ea, the charger is @ $60.xx, the drill is a reasonably good unit, if you need replacement bats buy this kit. My 12v 1.3ah bats are on their last legs after 5 yrs, this is the best yet deal on new bats. And the free drill bits were a nice kicker on a Friday deal.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works like a Makita Comment: I was not disappointed with this little powerhouse. Does the job for most household repairs and bigger projects as well. Lightweight and with two batteries, a great deal.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great 12v option Comment: Have been looking for a good 12v drill of late and one that is relatively inexpensive. With cordless drills you cant go for the sub $50 ones from the hardware outlets as the batteries are usually poor quality or the drill itself is gutless, so I sprung for this Makita. Yes the batteries are the old NiCad variety, they take longer to charge etc etc, but NiCad are still also one of the most reliable batteries with long service life if properly maintained and cared for. I have Makita's 18v Lithium drill also which is great but its Makitas budget one (The BDF462HW). What prompted me to buy this particular drill is that the charger CAN be used to charge the Makita Ni-Mh batteries as well as NiCad (from 7.2 - 14.4v), and I plan to buy some 12v NiMh batteries to use with this drill, although it does come with 2 batteries as standard.
Anyway the drill seems solidly built (although manufactured in China - what isnt these days?) and it sure has plenty of torque. Seems as much as my 18v lithium even? The drill is comfortable to hold and has very positive torque setting ring for accurate driving of fasteners. I have used it to drill and drive just about all types of wood and materials (except stone/masonry) as it doesnt have a hammer feature.
But basically, for $99 this is great value and should not be overlooked just because it is 12v. It has more guts than most 18v cheapy drills and is probably much better manufactured as well.
