Customer Rating: Summary: Adore It! Comment: I am not your average anime lover, I don't actually watch them at all! But my roommate got hooked on this show, and after about 2 weeks of hearing the strangest, most random things you could ever imagine coming from her laptop, I had to know what she was watching. Thus my love for Azumanga Daioh was born. This show is hilarious! Every quirky character [even the creepy googley eyed man] is so perfect, and even though the story takes you to many strange and curious places, it somehow always seems to work. I couldnt stop laughing then, and even now, after seeing each episode a good ten times, I laugh just as much as I first did.
Customer Rating: Summary: Ossim Comment: Really good set. I'm someone who doesn't care for the special features, I just want to watch the show, so this was a great purchase. 5 disc, all the episodes, good price. The only things I don't like, 1)The dub, this is a show where you have to watch it in japanese or your ears will bleed, but I prefer watching it with the subtitles and in japanese so its all good 2)with the subtitles on, you don't get those fun facts that pop up at the top of the screen. Oh, and some people are worried that because they put 7 episodes onto the last disc it would cause some compression issues, I didn't notice any so it's all good.
Customer Rating: Summary: Was High School Ever This Nutty? Comment: What can you remember about your days in high school? Do remember crazy sports competitions? What about teachers that bicker like they are 10 year olds because you don't want them to join you on your summer vacation? Well if you don't then you need to see the show 'Azumanga Daioh'
If there is one thing that can be said about Japanesse animation is they know how to deliver a great comedy that is so outragious yet so real and relatable at the same time. This is the story about five high school friends and a brand new student named Chio, oh and she is a 10 year old super genius who can almost anything. She is welcomed into the the group and each one of them has their own special characteristics. Sakaki: A very tall and silent girl who is extremly helpful, but has a strange obsession with cats. Tomo: a hyper and overcompetative goof-up. Kagura: A sassy superstar athelete, but can't pass a test to save her life. Nyomi: A book worm who is very worrysome about herself, but will always help a friend. Osaka: A space case as out there as they come. These girls get into everything from putting together high school culture fairs, taking trips to the beach or just cramming away at the books and never getting any work done. Some of the moments in the show are so outlandish you can't do anything but laugh. Each character is so different from the next that each one has something that keeps the show strong from the first episode to the last. The end of the show will defintly pull at your heartstrings reminding you of how you felt when you were graduating high school. This show is one you should see because it will definitely leave an impression and if not will definitely make you feel good.
Customer Rating: Summary: Azumangled what??? Comment: This series is one of an increasing number of anime series based on weekly gag strips that have barely any plot or story to hold them together. You might say these sort of anime shows are nothing more than cute girls doing cute things cutely. Azumanga Daioh is about five high school girls who have nothing in common with each other until 10 year old child prodigy Chiyo-chan is put into their class. Chiyo becomes the glue that pulls and holds this goofy group of girls together as they deal with mid-terms, vacations, their teachers and, ultimately, college entrance exams and the certain knowledge that their graduation will spell the end of their special group as they all go their separate ways. The graduation episode had me remembering the end of my own high school days with fondness and even a few tears in my eyes. Unlike the manga, which I also own, I had no trouble in the videos in telling the girls apart, one from the other. This is a superior production for ADV. The english voice tracks are acceptable, and not painful like most ADV products. I recommend, though, that you listen to the Japanese voice track and read the subtitles.
Customer Rating: Summary: AMAZINGNESS!!!! Comment: There was not a moment that I was not laughing. It's random and always puts a smile on my face. The dvds were actually really good quality and it is wonderful to have the whole series. The only thing wrong with it is that there are not more!!!!! This series makes you feel like it is okay to be weird and silly. Love it!!!!!! They should continue the series and follow Miss Osaka and friends into college. THAT would be double AMAZINGNESS!!
