Summary: Great white noise maker
Comment: I have a very hard time sleeping in, even if I've stayed up late, in large part I think because random noises made by people living in the same apartment building and the traffic outside tend to wake me up. But with this machine on, I don't get disturbed and I'm now able to enjoy sleeping in on weekends or after staying up late (or both). In fact, the first couple of nights we used it, both my girlfriend and I slept in too long, to the point where we were actually groggy the next day. But after two nights of over sleeping, our bodies seemed to adjust and now we just enjoy normal and very restful night's sleep. We both highly recommend this item, and will probably be getting friends and family it for Xmas this year!

Comment: We love the Marpac noise machine. We have two - one for our bedroom and one for our baby daughter's room. We also take one with us whenever we travel. The lower volume setting is just the right level to lull us all to sleep.

Comment: After returning an awful sound machine to the local big box retailer I checked Amazon for some suggestions. Less than 24 hrs. later it was on my front porch. It has replaced the humidifier we've been using in my toddler's room to soften the noise the big kids make during nap and bedtime. It is soothing. So much so that I might get one for our room. Thanks Amazon for another great product!!

Comment: We bought this machine to block out the sounds of birds in the "conservation area" that fronted our bedroom window. It has really done the trick. If you want a machine that makes steady white noise only, this is a great machine. Also it is small enough that we can take it on trips to put in our baby's room.

Over 35 years ago the original Sound Screen / Sleep Mate sound conditioner white noise machine was developed because the inventor was having trouble sleeping. It worked so well, he made it available to his friends and family and ultimately the world. Today, the Sound Screen is still the most economical, most popular white noise machine and sound conditioner on the market. This white noise machine and sound conditioner creates a consistent, smooth sound of rushing air. The tone and volume of the sound are controlled by simply rotating the "cap" and "collar" of the housing. This "white noise" sound effectively masks unwanted noises and creates a sense of calm, making it easier to concentrate, relax and/or sleep. Don't confuse this with the 580 model, which only has one speed. This is the 980-A dual-speed model,and we have the latest version recently introduced!
