Summary: No Reverse a Big Loser
Comment: Bought one for light job but the hand held controller's In/Out function was defective. Winch would pull cable in fine but would not turn in reverse--had to release clutch and free-wheel (potential safety hazard with tension on line) to get cable out.
Returned this one for a second--same problem but this time the hand held didn't even have the word "out" to reverse the drum--again, would only turn the drum in the "In" direction. Decided to keep it anyway and make do.
(Return service with Amazon was excellent--only thing good in this deal.)

Summary: Saves my back
Comment: I have a bad back, I love to kayak, and have two, a 138 and a 160t Old Town kayaks.
My back couldn't get the 160t up on trailer with out straining 70lbs.(I have 3 Cockers that go with me, they can't help lift), I now just align it and press a button. It goes right up and I'm not injured or sore, so I can kayak longer and further. I give leverage 10 stars on this one. Yes, it takes a little time to set it up, but well worth it. I'm over 60. I've got it down to only a couple of minutes now.

Summary: Watch the amperage on this unit
Comment: I just ordered this unit to use inside my garage to hoist up a utility trailer that I want to stand on end to make more room. I needed to buy an ac to dc converter to power it and the specs do not state the current draw. I called Master lock and they told me 4 to 6 amps for a several hundred pound load - and 20 amps at the maximum 2000 pound load. That is a lot of current so make sure your adapter and/or car outlet can supply the current needed.
I will post back once I have had a chance to use it.

No need to buy a winch for each vehicle or trailer, this portable DC-powered unit mounts to any hitch or flat surface to haul in that boat, vehicle, trailer, and more! The winch can be temporary or permanently mounted to either a ball-mount hitch or a flat surface. A parallel-shaft gear ensures efficient power for rolling wheeled trailers and vehicles up to 6,000 pounds, pulling things up to 5,000 pounds through water, or dragging items up to 2,000 pounds. The winch shuts down automatically if overloaded. And, a toggle remote control lets you control the action from a distance. The winch is equipped with a 20-foot cable that reaches easily from the front of any truck back to a standard trailer--a nice feature for towing the boat in snug up against the trailer. --Brian D.
