It has a solar power feature that we enjoy listening to the patter of water when the sun hits the solar pane. We also enjoyed the price which was much better than a previous bird bath we had purchased. Customer Rating: Summary: Fun and reliable Comment: I bought this fountain last year after going through 5(!) floating solar fountains in our birdbath. The floaters either developed leaks or just quit working. When I received it, there was a broken part, but they worked with me and after emailing photos of the broken part, the replacement came quickly. We have the birdbath near a tree and have selectively pruned some branches to let the sun in. That way, we get the enjoyment of the fountain and the birds have someplace to be safe. I brought the pump in over the winter (in Michigan) but just turned the bath over and let it winter outside. It did develop a crack that I was able to patch, but I will be bringing the entire base inside this winter. The fountain head is too sedate for us, so the water is usually allowed to cascade without it. The bath does empty faster that way, but we change the water in the bath daily anyway for hygiene. Customer Rating: Summary: Turtle solar birdbath Comment: We've shopped for two years for a solar birdbath for our deck. Finally, we ordered the Country Gardens Solar Birdbath with solar fountain. It arrived just in time for our grandchildren's visit! We were all fascinated by the synchronization of sunshine and fountain activity. We don't miss the fountain when the sun goes in, because we usually aren't outside when the sun is not shining. It was easy to assemble, heavy enough to not blow over on a very windy night, and very attractive. Customer Rating: Summary: Weak motor, Comment: This is a sweet birdbath. The solar fountain worked for a couple of days and then the motor died. I tried to get a new motor for months. When it finally arrived, it was fall. I don't know if the sun that hit the collector wasn't bright enough or what, but I couldn't get the fountain to work again, or maybe it was another faulty motor. I'll try again in a month or so. Customer Rating: Summary: Soothing sounds Comment: I have to check on the water every day or every other day. Remove the solar panel/water pump to dump the dirty water (that I didn't know was dirty because all the junk was hiding in the chamber under the panel). I spray it out with the strong stream on my hose, stand it back up and adjust it so it's level and fill it up. Birds love it and I love seeing all the birds coming to my yard. A tiny haven in a big city that seemingly has pigeons, squirrels and crows. The water coming out of the fountain isn't pushed hard so it's a very soothing sound. The panel doesn't store energy so it doesn't run at night and if the sun goes behind a cloud it doesn't run. It comes with a panel that is the same material as the bath so you don't have to use the fountain. I am glad it has this extra panel because I didn't know what I was going to do in the winter time. I don't have to take it inside, I can buy something to keep the water warm or I don't have to put water in it at all, but I can cover the deep part (where the pump goes if the pump and panel are in use) so the bottom of the bath will look seamless. Editorial Reviews: This fountain is definitely for the birds. Direct sunlight transforms this large Fountain / Birdbath into a freestanding, recirculating fountain.
