Summary: excellent comforable basic heart monitor watch
Comment: I've had this watch for about a year. The best thing is that you don't need a chest band. Also, it's a watch so you can wear it all day and check your heart rate whenever you like - which gives you interesting feedback about how 'hard' your daily activities are; like cleaning vs watching TV.

I don't use the calorie counting function, nor do I want a stopwatch, so I haven't explored the wider range of functions that exist on more expensive products. However, for a basic heart monitor it is brilliant and cheap. Why spend twice as much money on an alternative watch that has a few minor additional functions that only improve it's funcionality by 5%?

On the down side, after about nine months, a few functions on my watch have gone weird. For example, when I use the light the LED screen goes blank for a few seconds. The alarm still works but it only allows PM settings - I can't change the setting to AM. The rubber/plastic watch band has become a bit porous and has begun to absorb dirt and grime (I get very grimy after an hour running) so it has lost some of it's asthetic appeal. Another downside is that there is only one colour option - so you are limited to a slightly frumpish looking watch - but at least it is fairly unremarkable, and not terribly outlandish. Despite these niggles, the watch is still doing it's basic function of accurately measuring my heart beat and telling the time and date.

This heart rate watch has been so useful and so cheap that I'm back here on-line trying to buy another one (with a fresh new grime-less wrist band). I definitely recommend it.

Summary: It breaks; not reliable
Comment: Over the past two years we've had FIVE of these watches. The functionality is great, and they worked fine at first. All but one of the five have failed after two weeks to three months of use. Sometimes they go blank, sometimes they just freeze and don't respond to the buttons. You can't rely on this product so I don't recommend it.

Summary: Did not work
Comment: It actually worked better OFF my wrist than on. I had to press it several times to get a reading - it rarely worked. I ended up returning it.

Summary: very easy to use
Comment: I was somewhat concerned after reading other reviews that this watch might be difficult to use...but it is very easy to use. I use it while jogging and other aerobics such as climbing stairs without any problems. It only takes a few seconds - I reach over with my right finger, place it on the button on the watch on my left hand and seconds later I have a reading. The only thing I can criticize is that the 4 modes printed on the watch are very small and hard to read (not the digital readout), but I'm getting old and everything is harder to read these days.

Summary: Amazing product for the price
Comment: I looked into many brands and styles of watches without chest straps and this one was best by the reviews. They were all right.

I have checked the pulse rate many times with other equipment in my medical office and it's 100% accurate. It was SO easy to program and has been effortless to use.

Not a single complaint!

Editorial Reviews:

The Sportline Solo 920 gives you EKG accurate heart rate feedback whether you're standing still or in full stride. No need for awkward chest belts and multiple button sensors that only slow you down. With patented One-Touch Technology, your heart rate is measured with a single touch allowing you to stay focused on your next rep, lap or whatever lies ahead. The Sportline Solo 920 will also calculate your target heart rate zone and count your calories burned to guide you to the optimum workout.
