Summary: Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)
Comment: The product was received quickly and in excellent condition as advertised.
The picture quality was also excellent. I'm a big fan of the "Pirates" movies series, so this addition was a must!

Summary: A Pirate's Life for Me!
Comment: We may not have made the midnight showing but we were there front and center for the 7 PM showing on the opening night of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST. The theater was packed and all but vibrating with the sort of excitement usually reserved for INDIANA JONES and LORD OF THE RINGS movies. While not quite as good as the first movie, it was still great summer fun.

Without going into major spoilers, I will tell you that the new movie sports a number of delicious developments including a deepening of the romantic triangle between Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner and Captain Jack and an ending that makes you wish May 2007 was next month
instead of a year away.

My most thrilling discovery during the movie came when I asked myself that eternal question: Captain Jack or Will Turner??? And discovered that my answer (surprisingly enough) was: Commodore Norrington! I must confess that I barely noticed Commodore Norrington (played by Jack Davenport) in the first movie (although judging by several fanlistings on the internet, some of the more astute female viewers did). I just remember him as the handsome, clean shaven, somewhat stuffy fiance of Elizabeth Swann who nobly gave Captain Jack a head start when he was escaping from the gallows and let Elizabeth go into Will Turner's arms at the end of that movie.

But in the new movie, the former commodore is unshaven, dirty, drunk, desperate, brawling and out for revenge. And of course (being a romance writer)--suddenly I find him utterly irresistible! He needs to be redeemed! He needs love! He needs the perfect woman! He needs MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Summary: A Great Second Installment!
Comment: I'll be up front. I don't watch these pirate films to follow the story. In fact,
I'm not even sure what the ongoing story entails. Something about a
compass and a chest with a heart in it and.....anyway, I own all three of
these films for the sheer pleasure of watching the gritty, colorful,
amazing characters jostle and run through their escapades. Not one actor
is miscast or out of place, which is rare nowadays in film. In this particular
installment, the best scenes for me take place in the jungle amongst
cannibals, providing for some amazing stunts and light-hearted comic relief.
Be sure to wait until all the credits have rolled! At the end of the credits,
you get to see what happened to the dog! Priceless!

Summary: Part two of the pirate trifecta!!!
Comment: P2 takes all the best elements of the original and cranks them way up.
The action, the drama, the goofiness of Depp. Masterful.
Old squid face, Davey Jones is just a marvel to look at.
The fx is just amazing in this movie.
The plot?
Superb.
A lot of people say this movie has too much action and not enough heart.
I disagree, the heart is there, you can hear it thumping between the clanging swords.
Hollywood usually screws up sequels, they couldn't have done a better job with this.
Highly recommended!!!

Summary: Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest
Comment: I bought this to complete my collection. I love these movies. I love Johnny Depp. I have a whold collection of his movies.

Editorial Reviews:

Take the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, add a dash of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling Dead Man's Chest, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the strong suit of the franchise, as the film excels during its stunt pieces, which are impressively extravagant (in particular a three-way swordfight atop a mill wheel). It may help to know that Dead Man's Chest was filmed simultaneously with some of Pirates 3, so don't expect a complete resolution (think more The Empire Strikes Back) or the movie will feel a lot longer than it really is.

Bloom shows a tad bit more brawn this time around, but he's still every bit as pretty as the tomboyish Knightley. (Seriously, sometimes you think they could swap roles.) Bill Nighy (Love, Actually) weighs in as Davy Jones and Stellan Skarsgård appears as Will's undead father. But the film still belongs wholly to Depp, who in a reprise of his Oscar-nominated role gets all the belly laughs with a single widened eyeliner-ed gaze. He still runs like a cartoon hen and slurs like Keith Richards--and he's still one of the most fascinating movie characters in recent history. --Ellen A. Kim
