Summary: PollyWorld: An Explanation
Comment: Perhaps it would help many of you to know that this is a commercial, not a movie. It is designed as a commercial from the ground up. Products are placed, cross-platform design is integrated into the backgrounds, and, perhaps scariest of all, it's based on market research.
It might help to know that market research has shown that video entertainment product can extend the target group viability for an additional couple years. So while Polly Pocket maybe aimed at, for example 4-9 year olds...the presence of a video counterpart has shown to extend the marketability to, for example 12 year olds. As young children aspire to be older, an older sensibility is used on purpose. No one in high school wants to watch a movie about high school. This follows that premise.
You might also be interested to know that market research has shown that "girls love elevators" or "girls love exploring hotels" or "girls aspire to be in rock bands"...that is why these elements are included in the plots...not to drive the plot...but to hit all the important marketing points.
Also, this "movie" isn't the creation of the writer, the director, or the production team. This movie was created by an executive and the staff at Mattel. The production house is solely charged with making all of these things work. The reality of it is that, in the end, Mattel has to have something to put on a shelf to coincide with a toy release. It doesn't matter if it is good or bad...it just has to be present.
I hope that illuminates some of the criticism...all valid...but all based on the idea that this was supposed to be a movie...it never was...it has always been a commercial.

Summary: Great for any polly pocket fan
Comment: I purchased this movie for my daughter's 5th birthday party.All ten girls that attended loved watching this movie.Too bad it's the only polly pocket movie on the market, would buy more like it.

Summary: Not appropriate for young children
Comment: I was both dissapointed and extremely upset by the plot of this movie. As has been stated in other reviews, it casts a very bad light on blended families. What is more, it represents school as a competetive, social climbing atmosphere. The polly pocket toys are aimed at 4-7 year-olds. My daughter, who is just entering kindergarten, plays with them all the time. So I was flabbergasted by the negative portrayal of in-school relationships (good girl/bad girl stereotypes). Not a healthy introduction to what school is supposed to be about. Kids will experience bad by other children soon enough. There is no need to present it as part of an acceptable school environment. I do not recommend this video at all.

Comment: I think the movie PollyWorld is a really great movie. My granddaughter has enjoyed watching it over and over again. I think its a great movie for all young girls.
