Customer Rating: Summary: Not a bad watch Comment: This watch definatly serves it's purpose. The display is big and easy to read. I work in a kitchen and can't wear a wrist watch, this was a great alternative at a good price. The only down side is that the buttons are slightly sensitive and will change modes with out me knowing. Other than that, I have no issues.
Customer Rating: Summary: Tough and versitile Comment: When working in lots of environments where a conventional watch would be a hazard (electronics work, woodworking, working with chemicals) the digital grip clip is a dream come true. The screen is visible enough for most lighting conditions and has indiglo for darkness. I am on my second one of these now and I have no problem with the fact that the clip does break after some time. This is the only product on the market with a tough plastic housing, digital face and modern styling. A must have for anyone who needs to watch the time and work with their hands.
Customer Rating: Summary: Ideal watch that's not for the wrist Comment: The Digital Grip Clip watch by Timex brings all the digital watch functionality without compromise.
Case: VERY durable ABS plastic frame, and a secure clip that won't be undone by accident. The pivoting head allows it to be hung from a bag in one orientation, of flipped over and readable hanging from one's belt loop.
Functions: Your basic digital watch functions are all there: 12/24 mode, chronograph, alarm, countdown timer, and indigo backlight. The buttons are face mounted, but otherwise just like your Timex Ironman or Casio digital watch.
Other: Resists water to 50m depth. Very large display for the core numbers HH:MM so easy to read even at fairly steep angles.
Upsides:
1. Best watch I have ever owned.
2. Stays accurate, and have only reset time once in 5 years.
3. Battery exceeded 3 year life by 2 years--and counting.
4. Takes a beating, and I have a rough job at times.
5. Goes with anything I wear, including suits.
Shortcomings:
1. buttons can be difficult to depress, but if you set it and forget it, then you're just fine.
2. The spring in the clip broke--after 5 years of considerable abuse. This torsion spring is irreperable by oneself, hence my need to replace it.
3. Too bad Timex never made a dress version in analog.
Verdict:
Highly recommended. If this watch can last 5 years with me bumping it against something daily, then it should survive much more with you for years to come. At this price it is a definite bargain.
Customer Rating: Summary: Superb design and engineering Comment: If, like me, you're one of those people that for whatever reason doesn't like to wear a wristwatch, this inspired piece of kit from Timex is the answer to your prayers.
I expected it to be quite light and flimsy, it's actually slightly heavier than it looks, and feels solid, helping to inspire confidence in a watch with 'Shock Proof' on the dial. It should take a reasonable amount of punishment, being designed to hang from a belt loop or a rucksack or a bag - or anywhere else you can think of (I use mine like a pocket watch). It's water resistant to 50 metres so getting it wet shouldn't be a problem. In addition, the dial can be rotated along the horizontal axis for easy viewing whichever way up the watch is.
Apart from the above, what I really like about this watch is that the display, in TIME mode, shows only the time (in 12 or 24 hour formats), and not the date (how many times a day do you need to know the day of the week, month and date?) which makes for a less cluttered and much clearer display. The date can be seen at the touch of the MODE button viewable in DD-MM (for us Brits) or MM-DD for everybody else... The other really cool feature is that the LCD has a green reflector at the back. In normal viewing the display has the standard grey background, but in low light, slightly tilting the watch increases the contrast reducing the need to resort to the Indiglo light. One wonders why all LCD watches don't have this. You also get the standard chrono, timer and alarm functions. The battery is a CR2025 lithium cell which should be good for anywhere between five and ten years depending on how often you use the Indiglo light and/or the alarm.
Build quality is excellent, as you would expect. My watch has lost about two seconds a week since I've had it, so no complaints there. It's also ridiculously priced. I would have paid at least twice the price.
I love this watch - a fantastic example of the marriage between form and function. Much kudos to Timex for a beautiful piece of design and engineering.
Customer Rating: Summary: Wish alarm was louder Comment: The Timex TMX Grip Clip Digital Watch 73751 has a large, easy to read screen. The flip screen came in handy on my cruise. The only problem I have is that I have to take medication at the same time each day and I found that the alarm sound wasn't loud enough. You can only hear it if you are right on top of it.
