Customer Rating: Summary: Miss Potter Comment: I was very happy with this experience. I was sent a confirmation. I was sent a notice when it was mailed. It arrived in perfect order. Thank You for a wonderful job!
Customer Rating: Summary: delightful story especially inspirational for young ladies. Comment: Ms. Beatrix Potter is a child of privilege in England at the turn of the century. As such, her role in life is to find an eligible man-that meets to approval of her social climbing mother and to marry. Renee Zelwigger's charming and sensitive portrayal makes you want to cheer her lovingly rebellious nature.
Beatrix rejects all suitors brought to her and instead concentrates on her passion... drawing and stories based upon the animal creatures who she has created from her experiences in the country and her whimsical sense of humor.
Despite her mother's objections, Miss Potter seeks and finds a publisher for her first book. The publishers, a dour pair of brothers, see it as a way to dissuade their youngest brother from his desire to join the business. His failure at publishing, and they firmly believe the book will fail, will send him back to be a companion for their aging mother. This will please both the mother and the older brothers.
Instead, the youngest brother, played most charmingly by Ewan McGregor, helps her to bring to book about a naughty young rabbit to print and a most successful sales record.
While working to publish other of her stories, the couple falls in love. From this point, I hope I have interested you enough that you will want to view this movie for yourself.
Let me just finish by saying, this woman for whom society had one plan, by her strength of character and and purpose, followed her own plan and left a legacy of some of the most beloved children's stories, and from the profits made, save a charming part of the English landscape for all posterity.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Comment: Arrived in perfect condition. I really appreciate the over-estimation in shipment times, as it usually arrives before the estimated ship date, thus making everyone happy!
Customer Rating: Summary: Miss Potter is delightful! Comment: Renee Zellweger is absolutely charming in this lovely rendition of Beatrix Potter. I was very fortunate to have visited the Lake District and to visit Beatrix Potter's farm. This movie reminded me of how magnificent the countryside is and her efforts to preserve the beauty of this area brought back some wonderful memories. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll clap your hands as if you were reading her books for the first time.
Customer Rating: Summary: A wonderful family movie! Comment: I watched this movie with my eleven-year-old granddaughter, and both of us enjoyed it immensely. The acting is excellent, and the story is both humorous and sometimes sad. In other words, the screenplay does a nice job of portraying the realities of life that affect each of us today, even though the movie is set in the early 20th century.
For children, and even adults, the movie teaches about life and social mores in a bygone era, especially about the limited opportunities that were available to women at that time. Beatrix Potter was able to break down many barriers in her lifetime, and left us the wonderful gift of her books which are as beloved by children today, as during her own lifetime.
I definitely believe that many of the challenges that Beatrix faced in her lifetime are still being faced by women today. This movie portrays the triumph of Beatrix's own life story in a way that can give hope and inspiration to women both young and old, and should be shared with those that you love. A wonderful movie!
