Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Ok Comment: When I first opened my package today, I smelled something very strange. It turns out that these "candies" are awful smelling. However, I chilled them, as it suggests, and they really do taste better cold. I love trying new foods, but I would never leave the U.S. This is a great way to experiance new culture from the safety of your own home without having to worry about some horrible disease. I got another recipe from a library cookbook called "onigiri" and it calls for "ume" which is what this is. I chopped 'em up (removed the pit) and stuffed them in rice. It is actually quite tasty and I plan on making them again. My children and husband don't like it, but I'm from a small town, and most people, including myself, don't like oriental food or any such thing. This is quite tasty!!!
