Summary: Singing the praises of Nutiva's VCO!
Comment: This coconut oil is DREAMY. I tried the Tropical Traditions brand and the comparison is subtle but distinct. I have a fairly refined palate so maybe some people won't notice the difference but to me it's like night and day and my daughter agrees with me on that.
The heavenly yet subtle coconut smell and gorgeous white color are what first entices you when you open one of their jars (yes, plastic but non-leaching PET). BTW, do NOT reuse PET plastic; just recycle it once youre finished with them.
The big difference in flavor definitely comes from the fact that they process the coconuts and get the oil so fast that there is no sour smell as with fermentation methods used by other VCO manufacturers which means you can eat this stuff raw without feeling like youre going to gag.
I did notice I broke out in a few pimples after eating this stuff at first but that has now subsided. I figure that is because I normally have a very low-fat diet and my body is just not used to fat. Also, rubbing it on your dry skin is amazing! I use this VCO on my dry feet and legs and they look and feel so much better when NOTHING else would work! My skin feels so baby soft and silky since Ive been using this! I used to gross out over all of the dry skin on my legs especially [yuck] and now my skin looks dewy and fresh and my feet look and feel soft rather than hard and callused and I dont have to scrub my feet half as much as I used to in order to get them smooth.
For a yummy butter replacement I like adding some Himalayan rose salt (or kosher salt) with some solid VCO mixed in a butter dish and kept on the counter for our bagels/toast/muffins etc. Just a little bit of salt really brings out the full flavor of coconut oil much like butter.
Do not hesitate on giving Nutiva's coconut oil a try (even if you only try a smaller size first)!
Side note: Nutiva oil came to me in solid form but the oil solidified in the jar a bit sideways which is normal (probably shipping conditions). -This did not affect the integrity of the product whatsoever and I store mine in my pantry because I like keeping it in a solid state. Also, if you really want to keep it in the rawest form possible (for popcorn or salad dressing ect.) but you want to liquefy it then try putting in a small glass jar (like a clean baby food jar) or a small ceramic 'pinch bowl' and setting that in a shallow bowl of hot water. :) Also, remember youi do NOT need to refrigerate Coconut oil because it is a very stable oil that has a shelf-life of at LEAST 2 years and the fridge will turn your VCO rock solid.

Comment: This is great! I 3 bottles of this so I could fill my fry daddy and it makes foods taste great and it is the best oil to cook with since it is organic and what God would have suggested. I also want to say that when I used this stuff it made my whole house smell like coconut. Not grossly it smelled good. It is not like the stuff you buy at the store. the stuff at the store wasn't as good as this stuff.

Comment: We have used Nutiva for more than 2 years. It's the highest in quality and taste. We don't use butter any more, just coconut oil, a little salt or sugar on toast, on veggies, for everything it's so much better for you than butter and other dairy. Great cooking oil too, doesn't break down like all other oils.
The 54 oz is the way to go...we buy 4 at a time and go through them in about 4-6 months.
Wonderful product, Amazon is the best too, you can't beat the free ship.
Local store retail for the same product costs almost 3 times as much.
