Customer Rating: Summary: perfect little notebook holder Comment: I have 2 notebook holders, this one and the belkin cushtop. I use the cool channel on a podium or desktop, sometimes sitting on the couch next to me. It's very stable and also easy to travel with. I've been using it for 2 months and I have no complaints, I'd by another in a heartbeat.
In case in matters I have a Sony Vaio 15.4", it hangs over almost 1/2" on both sides of the platform but that doesn't cause any issues with stability. My Vaio tends to get very warm when sitting straight on your lap, table etc., but this platform keeps it cool.
Customer Rating: Summary: a great simple product! Comment: I purchased this laptop holder to get the hot Macbook Pro off my lap. It is so simple, lightweight, travels very well, and it doubles as protection around the laptop. I did not want something to plug-in or that was made of super hard material. It utilizes the small channels to naturally cool your notebook, brilliant! I will be purchasing another one for my other macbook pro. I would recommend this product to everyone!
Customer Rating: Summary: Allsop Notebook Platform - small and effective Comment: I received this as a Christmas gift this past Dec (2007) and use it all the time. I travel frequently for work, and fell in love with the "lap desk" type of laptop holders that Hampton Inn has in their rooms. That was more in line line with what I was wanting, but since I have been using this, I am very happy with it.
I use a 14"ish laptop at work and a 15" macbook at home, and have been very pleased with the way it keeps the heat dispersed when using either computer. I tend to have quite a few things running at once on the Mac, so it really has a tendency to get warm. That is when I pull out the Allsop, if I'm not already using it.
As some other folks have said, it is designed for a 13"-ish laptop, but the 15" macbook works perfectly well on it, overlapping just a tad on either side. It's of no real issue though, so don't let that keep you from purchasing it if your computer is in that range. With the large laptops, the "springy" cord on the underside defintely won't hold your laptop in place, but the unit will slide over it for easy storage in your bag.
I would recommend this especially if you are inclined to use the touchpad on your comp versus a mouse. The only potential drawback is that the platform isn't large enough to support an external mouse if you primarily use one. For an inexpensive and quality stand, I definitely recommend this!
Customer Rating: Summary: My wrists are happy. Thanks Allsop! Comment: I use a laptop at work and after a few days of putting it flat on the desk, I realized I had to do something to soothe my aching wrists. The Cool Channel is a good price and has a nice angle to it. I can't say for sure how much cooler it keeps my 13" Mac Book but it seems to work, though I was skeptical about a fabric covered design. I was going to get an all aluminum one but it was about 4 time as expensive and I'm quite happy with this unit. The fact I you tuck your comp underneath for travel is a great added feature too.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Laptop Stand Comment: I bought this laptop stand a couple of months back from Staples. I found it browsing through the isles. The minute I saw it I new it would be perfect. I only wish I had bought it on Amazon, it's alot cheaper here. It has a great angle, that makes typing ergonomic. The design also keeps the heat off my lap when I sit it there. If you're looking for a laptop stand this is the one!!! From the minute I bought it I have not removed it from off the bottom of my laptop (except to put it in a bag). As an added bonus, you can actually tuck the laptop into the "fold" of the stand and there is a strap on the back to hold some papers or folders. This is a great buy (did I say that already).
