Customer Rating: Summary: Great CD Comment: Great CD with many good songs. If you liked his previous romantic albums you will definitely enjoy this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: I expected something better Comment: Alejandro Fernadez has a nice powerfull voice. I love his mariachi albums. His ealier pop cds were not too bad, but this one is very disappointing. He does not sing to his potential, the material selected is boring, the duet with that female pop singer is horrible. It looks that Alejandro tries too hard to conquer the crowd of teenagers.
Customer Rating: Summary: Alejandro, por favor.... Comment: I declined to review A CORAZON ABIERTO because I was disappointed, but at least Alejandro redeemed those songs on the live CD that followed.
Here I have to say I was more disappointed. Perhaps in a quest to widen his audience Alejandro has taken on lesser material which is not up to his truly amazing voice. Anyone who listens to this CD to hear him for the first time will not know what his fans rave about or why women throw their bras onstage when he performs. The breathiness of his singing on this CD omits 90% of his supberbly sexy lower register, which is one of the traits that wins female hearts and plays with their hormones.
Those of us who fell in love with the voice we heard in "Morenita Mia" or "Granada" on his earlier live album almost don't recognize what we're hearing on this one in songs like "Tanto Amar" or "Solitario y Solo." Some of the songs on this CD are better suited to Ricky Martin and I felt that Beyonce ran roughshod over him in "Amor Gitana."
I hope he realizes that expanding his repertoire should not alientate his core audience. We'd rather hear him try tango or flamenco, which would at least use the most emotive elements of his truly fine voice while adding to his mystique.
Customer Rating: Summary: ok Comment: Alejandro's new cd is just another cd. Just a few songs are good enough. He can do better than this.
Customer Rating: Summary: A victory for Alex! Comment: I eagerly anticipated the release of this album. Alejandro is taking risks to broaden his fan base while creatively challenging himself. I commend him for his efforts. I like the "new Alex" & it looks good on him. He cut and dyed his hair and now prefers suits and jackets. "Wind In My Favor" defines where he is personally, professionally and spiritually. His present tour production even has a different feel and I have to say I am excited for him because you can feel his joy in every song and note. The two more upbeat titles "Sueno Contigo" and "A Manos Llenas" are my favorites. These are definitely margarita-drinking music! "Estabas Alli" would challenge any crooner of any genre in any language. He once said that he learned how to sing a ballad by listening to Michael Bolton and Lionel Ritchie. He learned from some of the best, wouldn't you say? A duet with Beyonce Knowles in "Gitano" not only shows she is a quick study of the sensuality & pronounciation of the language but Alejandro's low and seducing vocals add heat that can't be found in any other voice. He can bring out the passion of a woman's soul! The final song, "Cuando Estamos Juntos" is downright adorable and a good selection to end the CD. He is just as sexy in concert when he performs this while twirling his mic stand. All in all, it was worth the wait and it is a good addition to your A.F. library.

Viento a Favor is Mexican superstar Alejandro Fernandez's 15th studio disc in as many years as a singer. But he still approaches each project with the urgency and earnestness of a newbie singer. That's what makes each tune a small celebration, an intimate moment of discovery. There are no wasted moments amid the sterling arrangements, some of the best in Fernandez's lush pop repertoire. (He's an equally heralded ranchera singer.) Viento a Favor features tunes written by Leonel Garcia and Noel Schajris (better known as emotive Latin-pop duo Sin Bandera) and Mexican singer Reyli Barba. They're all taken to wuthering heights by Fernandez's stellar vocal range, which goes from hushed whispers to booming intensity. First single "Te Voy a Perder" is an epic romance, and "Amor Gitano," a duet with bilingual diva Beyoncé, expectedly smolders. Closing tune "Cuando Estamos Juntos" is another surprise, an acoustic-flavored ode to simple joy. --Joey Guerra
