Customer Rating: Summary: Bissell Steam Mop Comment: I was pleasantly surprised with how well this little mop handled vinyl floors. In seconds, the ground-in dirt at the landing for our doggie door disappeared. Virtually no effort was required for a perfectly clean floor. This area of my floor would take a HUGE amount of effort before. I noticed very little streaking on the vinyl floors. The mop did not work as amazingly on my hardwood floors, though. There was noticeable streaking there, but still, the hardwood floors in my opinion were very clean. I just had to towel them off. For the price, this little mop is a good value.
Customer Rating: Summary: It may just be my floors...but HOLY STREAKS, BATMAN. Comment: It's okay. And with two children under the age of 2, you've got to pick your battles. My battle is keeping a clean floor without chemicals. Having a streaky floor afterwards is annoying, but it's not a battle I choose to fight. And as my title says, it may just be the quality of my floors. They're an expensive wood floors (not boasting....the previous owner bought them....and they stink). So, it's light, it's quick and it gets up the mystery stuff stuck to the floors after the babies have had their run of the place. I guess I'd recommend it, but not highly.
Customer Rating: Summary: Woo Hoo! Clean Floors! Comment: I've never used a product like this in my life. But after 5 years in my home, lots of tile in high traffic areas (including kitchen and breakfast nook), and a pet cockatiel (that drops his "stuff" on the floor on a daily basis), I was growing weary of using my Swiffer Wet. The Swiffer just wasn't cutting it, so I began my search for a better way to clean my floors.
Because I am a borderline Amazon junkie, I headed to amazon.com to do some homework. I stumbled across this product, read several reviews, and decided to give it a try. I am SO happy with this product - my tile never looked so good! As other reviews have said, grout is evil and nothing cleans it perfectly. Neither does this product. But...I love my new steam mop! For those nasty items stuck to the tile, I just let the steam mop sit on them for several seconds and up they come!
The mop is ready use (a.k.a. indicator light goes on) in less than 2 minutes. My only gripe is that the cord is very short. But...extension cords work. And you can easily unplug and replug into another outlet quickly without needeing to wait for the mop to heat up again.
Two thumbs way up!
Customer Rating: Summary: If you have tile, throw your mops away Comment: I have a TON of tile in my house. Mopping takes forever and is, quite frankly, just gross. The Swiffer Wet Jet goes through too many pads and solution. Both are a task and a half, and the floors are left streaky and dull.
This item was on back order when I placed my order. First it was for 3-4 weeks, then 5-6. I almost canceled, but realized that Amazon.com had the best price going, and since I was still Swiffering and mopping, I wasn't going to do anything different if I did cancel because ordering it any other place would cost me more than double without the cost of shipping.
It arrived a week ago and I am so impressed. I had read the reviews about the "short cord", and have to say that it isn't that short, but not quite long. No big deal. Invest in a grounded extension cord and this will not be a problem at all.
The manufacturer recommends distilled water for most efficient steam production, and better filter performance. We have very hard water, so I decided to spend the buck on a gallon of distilled water. Given how much you spend on cleaners in general, it's not much. You will be surprised at the size of the water tank on the Green Tea. You will also be surprised at how far that small tank of water goes. It doesn't take much to do a lot - I've yet to use a full tank on my entire downstairs floor (this includes 2 regular bathrooms, a master suite bathroom, kitchen, dining, entry, foyer and laundry room). I am most happy about the fact that I will never have to buy or smell Mr. Clean, Pine Sol, and/or Lysol again. Oh, the savings =) A gallon of water will last well over a month, if not 6 weeks.
This little thing heats up in minutes, and goes the distance. No streaks, no chemicals, and no headache. The chenille pads are soft, absorbent and easy to change. The steam is uber-hot and dissolves grime, dirt and all the other sticky stuff that finds itself onto a kitchen floor in seconds. Best of all, it weighs next to nothing, and pivots well (it reaches behind my toilets with ease). When I mop now, it literally takes 15 minutes or less, and there's no mess to clean up when I am done. I just remove the pad, wrap the cord and store the steam mop.
This has been a blessing. This task is no longer a chore for me, and I don't mind "mopping" a few times a week now. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who has lots of tile (I already have), and not a lot of time to mop. If you have kids and dogs, this is a dream. (Did I mention how quiet it is?)
P.S. You can order the replacement filters and chenille pads directly from Bissell. The cost (and the shipping) is far less than any e-tailer, even the one who sells through amazon.com. If you have a lot to mop, you will need to change the pad when it accumulates enough dirt and gets too wet, or it will begin to streak. Again, it takes seconds and is easy and painless. (All other parts and accessories for this machine are also at bissel.com for much less, too.)
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Mop Comment: I ordered this mop after the holidays and I am very pleased with it's performance. I bought it because we tiled our kitchen years ago, but did not seal it. As the years have passed, it became dingy. Home Improvement Stores sell chemicals to clean the tile but reading the labels and warnings made me worry about ventalation and the health of our family & pets. This mop has cleaned the tiles and grout beautifully...it wasn't an instant clean... but since the first of the year the color is brighter and cleaner. I highly recommend it for DIYers who don't completely finish floor tile projects!
