Summary: kat deluna rocks!
Comment: I like this cd very much, songs like "whine up" were huge club hits late 2007. Every song on this album is good,she has a great voice and sings great dancable tracks and also there are beautiful ballads which proves that she is very tallented. I like kat deluna's music and its so much better than all the other overhyped garbage that we see in the charts these days.

she's not so charismatic, and she doesnt establish much, it kinda like a random playlist of songs instead of an overall theme, and if there was an overall theme, then it was missing substance

Summary: 3-1/2 stars -- Decent, but really just your typical Spanglish album
Comment: I first heard of Kat DeLuna when she and Omarion shared the song "Cut Off Time" off the Feel the Noise soundtrack. Since very few people picked up that soundtrack or even heard of the movie, I doubted that she'd have much staying power. But I still decided to check out her album 9 Lives.
Kat DOES have a good voice, but the only song that really stands out on here is "Love Me, Leave Me". While most of the rest of the songs are above-average, they don't really make her stand out in a crowd either. The Elephant Man-assisted "Whine Up" could have easily been done by Nina Sky, while "Run the Show" or "Enjoy Saying Goodbye" have Shakira written all over them. I'm not saying that Kat is trying to emulate these artists, but that's just how things look at face value.
There are also a couple of songs I can do without: the empty "Am I Dreaming" and the corny "Animal". And unsurprisingly, the end of the album features Spanish versions of earlier songs on the album ("Whine Up", "Am I Dreaming" and "Run the Show"). If you're a fan of club music or Latin pop, then pick 9 Lives up; otherwise, B.I.F.

Comment: She has a beautiful, powerful voice that invites you to listen and the songs are even better because of the melody that is so catchy and energetic. I bought it as a gift for my sister, I wasn't very interested at first to be honest but when we played the cd WOW, my favorite song is "Am I Dreaming". I fell in love immediately and haven't stop singing it since I first heard it!

Kat DeLuna's 9 Lives is one of the year's sweetest surprises--a beguiling, bilingual pop debut that should make her a huge star (fingers crossed). The disc is a dazzling showcase for her unique talents, most notably her opera-trained voice, which bends and snaps with ease amid shiny club beats and tropical rhythms. Breakout single "Whine Up" soars on a thundering, round-the-way groove that's impossible to shake after just one listen. But that's just the first of the disc's flirty, feline offerings. "Animal" roars to camp-club perfection, blending anthem-like choruses with dance-diva attitude, and "Run the Show" is a confident party-starter. DeLuna proves equally adept at emotive balladry. The Selena-esque shimmer of "Am I Dreaming" is buoyed by a lilting, beach-kissed groove. And "Love Me, Leave Me" mines the same goth-pop territory as Rihanna's "Unfaithful."
