Summary: Not my favorite...
Comment: I have been a Brightman fan for many years. I have seen her in concert several times and have most of her CDs.

When I first received this one I couldn't quite make up my mind about it: did I love it or even like it? I listened a few times, gave it a rest and came back to it recently. It remains in my opinion a surprisingly disappointing CD. There are too many 'duets' and too little pure Sarah. The packaging is excellent as always, but the product itself doesn't quite match it.

I will patiently wait for her next one and in the meantime replay 'La Luna', 'Harem', and others in her excellent catalog.

Summary: I Love it!
Comment: I simply love the cd. It arrived today at my house at last. I couldn't wait anymore i wanted to have it in my hands. All the waiting was worth it. Sarah Brightman's voice it's just the best. I love her since the first time i heard her singing. I mean you should buy. She's just awesome and the songs of the cd's are just great. I loved "Symphony," "I will be with you," and "Pasion," still the rest of the cd is great. I can't stop listening to her songs.

Comment: This is not the same program I saw on PBS. Still I am very happy to buy this CD. I ended up buying 3 more CD of Sarah Brightman.

Comment: Though I am a Sarah Brightman fan, I have to agree with other reviewers who found this album to be a disappointment.

As others have said, this album gave me a sense that it was put together in a hurry. Usually, Sarah Brightman albums have a theme that connects the songs together. Her moon-themed CD, for example, would have songs like "Hijo de la Luna" and "La Luna." Unless I had missed that an orchestral background was the theme of the album, "Symphony" is more like a mishmash of different songs.

In "Symphony", the quality of Sarah's voice is not as good as it is in her other albums. When she sings, it seems strained and brittle. I remember Sarah saying that she had been seriously ill some time before the release of the CD. I'm not sure if sickness had any effect on her vocals, but I know that Sarah has a great voice and this album really does it no justice. Sarah's rendition of "Sanvean" is, unfortunately, pretty bad. Her voice sounded weak and emotionless, which is very unlike Sarah. The "Schwere Träume" track was very bland. The song is nice, but I know Sarah could have made it one of the songs that brings me to happy tears (as she often does).

On the bright side, there are two things from the album I'd like to highlight. The song "Canto Della Terra" is a very lovely piece, and, in my opinion, should have been the title track to the CD. Sarah's duet with Alessandro is pretty good. I think Sarah's voice is more compatible with Safina's than Bocelli's, and I hope she sings more duets with Safina in the future.

I'll just put this album away in the drawer and snap up her next record. Hopefully it'll be a lot better.

Summary: She makes the most of herself
Comment: I think Brightman has an excellent team behind her. I can say that I know many woman with her talent (as an Opera singer myself), but she is the one who had the break. I think she does great things with her voice and has found a style to fit it in and is appealing to "the masses".

Editorial Reviews:

Japanese pressing of the famed vocalist's 2008 featuring one bonus track: 'Forbidden Colours'. Symphony is Sarah Brightman's first studio album for five years. Recorded in Germany, Symphony features all new songs and is created with Sarah's long-time producer Frank Peterson. The repertoire ranges from beautiful ballads 'Symphony', 'Fleur du Mal' and epic power rock scores 'I Will Be With You' to interpretations of the work 'Jupiter' from Holst's The Planets on 'Running' to Faith Hill's 'There You'll Be' sung in Italian as 'Sarai Qui' and many more. On this album Sarah reunites with Andrea Bocelli to sing 'Canto Della Terra', as well as singing duets with Fernando Lima (Mexican tenor) on 'Passion' and Paul Stanley (Kiss) on 'I Will Be With You (Where The Lost Ones Go) '. The album showcases Sarah linguistic vocal skills by singing in Spanish, Italian, French and for the first time German. EMI.
