Customer Rating: Summary: In the great tradition of swingin' the classics... Comment: Every track on this disc is as much fun to listen to as it obviously was for the BSO to perform. "Sabre Dance" is utterly scorching, and the lyrics for "Honey Man" and "One More Night With You" are fun and witty. It all swings, but the particular standout for me is "For Lisa," Beethoven's "Fur Elise" turned into a sweet tribute to the Quintette du Hot Club de France.
Don't pass it by.
Customer Rating: Summary: Setzer's missed the point ! Comment: Well, I'm a big Brian's fan! Maybe the biggest one around ! Just for the record, I'm from Brazil! Ok,I used to say " everything setzer does is fine, very good ". That 's allowed me to say Setzer's is now missed in multicolored suits and guitars and fancy " wigs ". The firt 3 BSO albuns are stupendous. Stray cats is off record! But some annoying swingin everything ( I love swing music, BBVD and others!) christmas songs, santa claus blablabla... and now this : ok , he's one of the most talented guitar players in action, the arrangements are more than well done but....maybe three or four songs, 'd be ok but a whole album...He`s already a great artist and this 'd not change, not because one album, but a back in the roots and some simplicity 'd do some good. Hey, from a true fan! cheers
Customer Rating: Summary: Brian Setzer - Wolfgang's Big Night Out Comment: This one is cool, just sheer coolness. Classical tunes on a Gretsch with a twist! He plays the "Pink Panther" theme on a Gretsch, that alone makes this worth a hook!
Customer Rating: Summary: Worth a night in Comment: I was unsure when I opened up the case of this album quite what I was getting in for. I am a big Brian Setzer Orchestra fan, but couldn't quite see how this would work for a whole LP worth of material. What a fool I was.
The orchestra crackles with energy across the board as always, but Setzer displays surprising subtlety on several of the tracks which gives a greater sense of variety on numbers like "For Lisa" and the powerfully understated "1812 Overdrive".
For the most part though the band is swinging hard, with the guitar prominent throughout. It is fortunate then that Setzer is such a master of his craft as his guitar work mixes well with the horn charts and displays a decent understanding of the work which he is adapting. Particularly impressive are "Honey Man" and "Swingin' Willie", where Brian really cuts loose.
The entire experience flew past and definately merits multiple listens,
a very rewarding experience. Here, here!
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun Comment: This music is accomplished and fun! I listen to a lot of serious music and enjoy the break now and then. I couldn't resist the title, "Wolfgang's Night Out" and I'm glad I took a risk of purchasing it. I don't always experience such happy endings when extending my musical reach and pocketbook!

Take the biggest hit songs on the planet, add some rockin’ swing, scorching electric guitar, put it into a blender with an 18-piece Big Band and you have something pretty mind-blowing. Classical music is the fertile ground of the greatest melodies ever written, and you will know every single one on this CD (even if you don’t recognize the titles). As great as these classical melodies are, however, when presented in their original context among long and drawn out movements, they’re often very hard for most people to digest. As a result, the majority of music fans don’t own any of it. With Wolfgang’s Big Night Out Setzer has embarked on the most ambitious undertaking of his career in re-arranging and orchestrating these classical pieces into streamlined hit melodies that are nothing short of WOW!
