Customer Rating: Summary: Wouldn't have believed it. Comment: I would not have believed anyone who told me how quickly and effectively this would work. It seemed like so much to pay for what you got - all I have to say is that knowing what I know now, I would have paid 10 times what it cost. Absolutely works.
Customer Rating: Summary: not much success Comment: My daughter began thumb sucking at age 3, during a severe illness and has not been able to kick the habit as of yet. We've tried gloves, painting the thumb with nasty tasting medicine and have heard of the thumb guard's success, so we bought it. My daughter is eager to wear it and has done so for 3 weeks now...but the habit persists and now she is sucking the other thumb...it is very frustrating and I am now being faced with the decision to have to purchase a second thumb guard-which is pricey. I will try this route, as our next option is an orthodontic device, placed in the mouth my our dentist. It would be nice if 2 thumb guards were being offered in a set - as I'm sure I'm not the only one with a child, who is converting the thumb sucking to the other hand.
Customer Rating: Summary: WHOA on the price increase! Comment: One-Hand ThumbSucking Kit Medium fits ages 5-6 years
I have to say I purchased this Dec 2007 for $45. Recommended to a friend a week or so after we received it, price went up to $50. Worked great, but broke (palm area) after 3-4 weeks. I wasn't sure if I should replace it and just watched my boy. He did great for about a month and slowly the thumb has snuck back in.....it's now almost as bad as it was to begin with. So I come back today to order another and it's $75!!!! WHOA, that's a 50% increase in only 7 months and yes, bought it from the same seller.
Customer Rating: Summary: no good for a 5 year old Comment: Our daughter is 5 years old, and sucks her thumb while sleeping. It took her about 3 nights to figure out how to stretch the rubber enough to suck her thumb. Probably fine for younger kids, but not for this age.
Customer Rating: Summary: Easily Removed - Only works if child wants to stop Comment: This product works great as reinforcement when your child WANTS to quit, and when they can be convinced (bribed) to leave it on. Because of the stretchy rubber, there is no way to get it tight enough that they can't pull the strap closures through each other and get them loose enough to get guard off if they really want to. It took my kid less than two minutes to figure this out. However, if you can come up with an incentive - a reward they will get if the guards are still on in the morning, then the Thumbguard can help them not to accidentally suck during the night, and can be a reminder during the day. My child nibbles on hers, though, and the rubber can be bitten and nibbled away to reveal the thumb after a few weeks. If you are forcing this on your child - don't waste your money. If they WANT to quit and agree they need help, this product can be a big reinforcement.

Finally a cure for the Thumb-sucker who wants to quit but can't! No messy polishes, with a 90% success rate over the past decade. Guard disrupts the process of sucking by maintaining a layer of air around the thumb, making it impossible to suck.
