Customer Rating: Summary: Novice Shooter Comment: This camera is everything I was hoping it whould be. I had a 10x optical Panasonic, but since it did not have a viewfinder, I found it difficult to take outdoor pictures. Since there are not "small" cameras with 10x or more that also have a viewfinder, I decided to go for the "larger" camera that has all the bells and whistles that I desire.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great camera Comment: I've only had the camera about a month, so I haven't had a chance to try all the features, but so far I am more than impressed by it. I primarily use my camera at concerts and I always ended up with 2 or 3 decent shots and a lot of blurry and/or too dark ones. With this one, I turn it on Auto and get perfect pictures.
It is super easy to use too. I got mine the day I was leaving for vacation and right out of the box I was able to start taking great shots.
My only regret is that I didn't buy a Lumix sooner.
Customer Rating: Summary: Couldn't be happier --- Comment: I bought this for my husband, who was used to using his Nikon 35 millimeter. I can't comment on the more technical aspects but I can say that he loves this camera. He hasn't had any problems and the pictures that he's taken so far have been far better than he expected. All in all, great purchase; and, as usual, great buying experience with Amazon.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Camera Comment: I purchased this camera in preparation for a vacation to Alaska and it met or exceeded all my expectations. The 18x zoom with image stabilization was very effective capturing long range wildlife shots while the normal (1x) zoom took great wide angle scenery shots.
I'm by no means a photographer so I can only judge the camera by the results. I had people in my group ooh'ing and ah'ing over the pictures I was taking and I think most of the credit goes to the camera.
Scaled down copies of some of my pictures are available at [...] if you want to see the general results. Note, I did resize these to minimize my disk usage in the blog and because I want to keep the high-res versions of the photos for my private collection. Some of them are too good to share!
Customer Rating: Summary: Loving my Lumix Comment: After breaking my old digital camera, I checked on-line reviews and decided on a Lumix DMC-FZ185 digital camera. Good choice! The zoom lens is powerful and easy to use. The prints are crisp. I still haven't mastered the Panasonic-supplied editing software, but the images are easy to transfer to other software. I recommend this camera!

The DMC-FZ18 Lumix 8.1-Megapixel Digital Camera can take photos from vast landscapes to super telephoto shots thanks to its 18x optical 28mm Wide-Angle Leica Zoom Lens. For macro shots, the wide-angle setting lets you shoot all the way down to one centimeter from your subject, while the telephoto setting can be used up to one meter (3.28 feet). Combined with Mega O.I.S. Optical Image Stabilization, the DMC-FZ18 can detect even the tiniest camera movement and automatically adjust the lens to compensate for any handshake. Intelligent ISO suppresses motion blur as you shoot, to capture crisp, clear images, making it easier to shoot scenes with fast moving action. The Face Detection function can automatically detect up to 15 faces in a scene and re-adjust the settings if their positions change. The Intelligent Scene Selector will sense the ambient conditions and automatically select either the Scenery, Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait or Night Scenery mode accordingly, getting beautiful results every time you shoot, no matter what the scene or subject. White Balance - Auto / Daylight / Cloudy / Shade / Halogen / White Set Program AE Shutter Speed - 1-1/2000 seconds Self Timer - 2 seconds / 10 seconds Burst Shooting Mode - Full-Resolution Image, 3 frames/sec Max. 7 images (Standard Mode), Max 4 images (Fine Mode) Built-in Flash Mode - Auto, Auto/Red-eye Reduction, Forced On, Forced On/Red-eye Reduction, Slow Sync/Red-eye Reduction and Forced Off Viewfinder - 0.44 diagonal Color EVF (188k pixels) Power Supply - Lithium-ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 710 mAh), Up to 400 pictures Dimensions - Height 2.96'' x Width 4.63'' x Depth 3.47'' Weight - 0.79 pounds
