Summary: Extremely high failure rate in some batches.
Comment: I've purchased about 700 of these discs in the past year. I have to say total, I'd put their success rate at about 65-80 percent.

However, I don't think they always use the same manufacturer, I've read that these (and most media) are purchased from third-parties and branded as Memorex. There is software available to read serial meta data on discs and catalogs of true manufactures available online. This is helpful to know which manufacturers truly produce quality media. But unfortunately, there's no way to know if you're buying a good batch from Memorex or a bad batch. For instance I've bought a spindle recently and it was ~95% successful burn rate. However the spindle I just bought had a 4% success rate (2 successful out of 50). All variables are the same in both scenarios.

This makes this product a real gamble, and that makes for a pretty crappy product. I think Memorex should declare their third party manufacturer on the packaging, or produce their own to a high and consistent standard.

I'm tired of being slapped in the face (thank you sir, may I have another?).

Summary: Works great at 4x
Comment: These disks work great if burned at 4x. I tried 8x and 6x and have about 8 new coasters! Burning at 4x and have not had any problems with 20 plus burns. Using a Pioneer 20X DVD±R DVD Burner IDE Model DVR-115DBK.

Summary: Excellent product...perfect quality!
Comment: have gotten other brands of DL DVD's.....this one not only burns smoothly and without errors, but the quality of the resulting recording is outstanding! Highly recommend Memorex for burning dvd's and DL dvd's.

Summary: Memorex DL
Comment: I seldom write reviews, but I have make this time an exception. These DL's are very good. I think the reason why some of you have coasters is you burn it at the maximum speed. If you lower the burn speed you will get good results. I am on my second 50-pack. I haven't had a coaster so far. The price is so much better than the Verbatim brand at approx 99 cents each.

Summary: Burned hundreds of these DVDs and had very few problems
Comment: I have been using the Memorex DL for over a year now. I usually burn them on an external Sony 6X burner and I rarely have problems. In fact, I have not had a failure since I moved up to the newer 8X discs. I would guess I have burned 100-125 of these newer versions and they have all come out perfectly. I use Nero 7 as my burning program and it works perfectly. I just purchased another pack of 50 from Amazon because these work so well. I would recommend purchasing from Amazon as they cost $93 at Best Buy compared to $48 on Amazon.

Editorial Reviews:

Nearly double storage to a standard DVD+R / Stores 8.5GB instead of 4.7GB / For one time recording / Superb quality at high speeds
