Customer Rating: Summary: Fun Fun Fun Comment: My daught is very into cooking. She just turned eight and she absolutely loves this game!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Use of Stylus Comment: This game works really well with the stylus, it is almost a completely touch game with a good number of recipes to unlock. It has nice little extras like unlockables to alter the look of the background and Mama's clothes/accessories. If you're an adult looking to play this on your commute, bear in mind you will be blowing into the microphone for some recipes!
Customer Rating: Summary: Awsome game! Comment: This game is sooo much better than Cooking Mama 1. It has kept me busy for hours, I also can have a friend play with me on their DS through the WiFi.
Customer Rating: Summary: Even better than Mama! Comment: My 5 year old can't get enough of this game and her older sister is always asking to borrow it. They love to "make" the recipes by cutting, slicing, stirring, etc the food. There is positive reinforcement whether they make a mistake trying the recipe on their own - or getting it right, in which case the game says, "Even better than Mama!" which my daughter loves to hear!
I bought this based on the Amazon reviewers and am not disappointed. It's a very positive, constructive game that the kids really enjoy. Gift it to the little chef in your life! :)
Customer Rating: Summary: Cooking Mama 2: Electric Boogaloo Comment: Cooking Mama was one of the first games I bought when I got my DS because it looked cute and fun and good for when I just wanted to turn my brain off for a few minutes. I ended up getting ridiculously obsessed with it and bought Cooking Mama 2 before I'd even finished half of the first game.
And it was definitely worth getting even if, for the most part, it's just more of the same. Being able to change Mama's look is fun, and cooking for Mama's friends adds a bit more challenge than was present in the first game. One thing I really love is that some steps have been condensed; slicing up and chopping an onion is now all included in one step instead of having you slice, see Mama's assessment, slice another way, see Mama's assessment, chop, etc.
My only big complaint is about the new bonus presents. While they are not entirely pointless (you can use them to decorate your diary entries, although I'm personally not using the diary), they really seem to be that way, and it takes forever for the bonus to be calculated, the presents to appear, and the one you picked to open up. And with some longer recipes you might have enough bonus stars to have to sit through the whole thing more than once! It's definitely an annoyance, but when the rest of the game is so enjoyable, it's an annoyance I can live with.
If you weren't a big fan of the first one, Cooking Mama 2 is going to be just as repetitive and not different enough to win you over. But if you really loved the first one, it's definitely worth checking out. And if you're new to the world of Cooking Mama, I would very much recommend this game over the first; the concept hasn't changed much, but the slight improvements make it an even more enjoyable game.
