Summary: Every Breath He Takes
Comment: When I first heard the song "Apologize" I was watching the video on VH1. This might sound a bit crazy, but while I was listening to Ryan Tedder's beautiful and highly expressive voice, I also noticed that he had the most perfect teeth. (don't you all laugh at me.) "Apologize" is a wonderful song, but there are a few other songs on the CD that I enjoy more: "Say (All I Need), "Stop and Stare," "All Fall Down," and "Come Home." Actually, I think the entire CD is well worth the listen, and I have listened to it many many times. A few of the songs remind me of Coldplay, but the difference is that I think Tedder has a better voice than Chris Martin. I would suggest that anyone that likes bands like, Coldplay, Travis, Keane, and even R.E.M., will probably find great pleasure in listening to One Republic and their debut CD "Dreaming Out Loud." Buy it.

Summary: One of the best new bands in a while
Comment: OneRepublic made waves with their hit single "Apologize" as a remix produced by Timbaland. Some could argue that if it wasn't for Timbaland remixing the song, they wouldn't be popular. Even if that's so, their debut album "Dreaming Out Loud" Is a great listen from beginning to finish. The best songs are clearly the hits "Apologize" and "Stop And Stare." Every song is good and well-written. They're a very likeable band that has fans of all ages and backgrounds. If you liked the hit singles from this album you'll like the rest like me. I highly reccomend this album, one of 2007's best!

Summary: Excellent!
Comment: I never heard of them before; but, I saw them on "The View" & they sang "Apologize." It's a beautiful song with a beautiful melody! I couldn't wait to buy the CD! Even though I bought the CD for that one song (Apologize) I love the entire CD.

Summary: Coldplay but not quite
Comment: Timbaland obviously has a good ear for talented musicians today. We have all heard Apologise on our radios and know the pure beauty of the breathy vocals that are gracing the airwaves.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that One Republic are destined to be a one hit wonder. Their album Dreaming Out Loud is full of the same sweet melodies and tasteful lyrics as Apologise. With smooth production and intelligent tastes, they have triumphed with their debut album - it's well worth a listen.

With singer Ryan Tedder following in the breathy vocal stylings of Chris Martin of Coldplay fame, the band following the musical essence of acts like Snow Patrol and the industry smarts of their mentor Timbaland, it will be hard for them to go too wrong.

Dreaming Out Loud plays very nicely at a dinner party or when just reclining back with a nice red and good book. The sounds are anything but obnoxious. They can, at times, disappear and play unnoticed if you are not consciously listening directly it. When it comes to relaxing background music, this one is a perfect choice.

The album has both the original and Timbaland versions of Apologise. The magic doesn't end there - Stop And Stare, Say and the title track Dreaming Out Loud are all stand out tracks.

If you're hesitant to put this one on your `to buy' list, at least put it on your `to listen' list.

Editorial Reviews:

If, like most of the pop-listening public, you heard Timbaland's chart-topping remix of OneRepublic's single "Apologize" before you heard the original, you may be mildly confused about what kind of music the band makes. Timabaland's signature electronic swizzles and "eh-eh-eh"s leave the impression that OneRepublic is a style-heavy outfit a la Maroon 5, but frontman Ryan Tedder's plaintive words and woebegone themes don't fall far from forerunners Keane, Coldplay, and the Fray. Dreaming Out Loud chisels away at the dichotomy. "Apologize," stripped of its swizzles, is a gorgeous modern rock song made all the more gorgeous by the urgency in Tedder's striking, unscuffed voice, and a lot of the songs on this record stack up similarly. Which is to say that, although tracks like "Tyrant" and opener "Say (All I Need)" wrap themselves around some seriously stylish production, substance is really this band's thing. A piano played by turns ferociously and tenderly drives the point home, and so do some choice lyrics; if you are inclined to choke up at feelings laid bare, check out "Goodbye, Apathy" and "Come Home" at your own risk. --Tammy La Gorce
