Customer Rating: Summary: Soothing vanilla scent, perfect for the kitchen Comment: I reviewed the Scent Sticks brand reed diffusers over the holidays and was so pleased with them that I eagerly tried these as well.
Although this is different brand, they are using the same exact bottle (less the logo), so they blended in well with my decor.
One thing I noticed right away with these is that the scent is extremely pleasant but not overpowering. It's a nice vanilla scent with undertones of coffee. Set up was easy, just unscrew the cap on the bottle and put the topper on, then insert the reeds. The box itself was very attractive, and it had absolutely no leakage anywhere.
One thing I like about these is that I don't have to remember to light a candle or blow it out when finished. It just lightly scents my kitchen around the clock.
My Scent Sticks are still going in other areas of the house even after seven months of use, in fact the peppermint one seems to be slower to wick and is about one-third full so I would expect that these should last at least 6 months to a year depending upon your humidity and how often you turn the reeds.
I rarely turn the reeds, I usually just let the reed wick the scent but if you want to increase the scent level, turning the reeds is easy. I would caution you to do so over the sink with a rubber glove on since the scent will linger on your hands for a long time.
I highly recommend these for no fuss home fragrance.
Customer Rating: Summary: "Oh, have you been baking a cake?" Comment: I certainly took that comment to be a big compliment, because the previous smell in my apartment was burnt scrambled eggs -- not entirely pleasant. Xela Aromasticks, Comforting Vanilla Latte is a product that lives up to its name. It is mild, inoffensive and sweetly pleasant, making your house smell like a vanilla cake (with a cup of coffee on the side.)
I like this type of room freshener better than the plug-ins, which can be overwhelming. Candles have to be watched constantly -- I won't leave one going in the room when I'm not there. Incense leaves a mess and I've never found one that I really like and doesn't remind me of a college dorm, lava lamps, The Grateful Dead, etc.
The one drawback (if you consider it one) is the spillable nature of the liquid in the bottle. I keep Xela Aromasticks on a pretty little plate on a shelf, where it's unlikely to be knocked over.
This is a very nice product that meets all my expectations. Recommended!
Customer Rating: Summary: Vanilla Latte Has Pleasant, Lasting Scent Comment: I have had the Vanilla Latte Aromasticks in my home for just over 10 weeks, and the bottle still has about 60% of the oil. They claim that the oil lasts six months, and that appears to be true.
When I first opened the bottle and inserted the aromasticks, the scent was overwhelming. The entire house smelled like Vanilla Latte, and I could not be in the same room as the bottle of oil because of the strength of the scent. However, after a day or so it became less noticeable. We put the bottle in an upstairs bathroom and there is a pleasant aroma in the bathroom and adjacent bedroom. Even walking past the bedroom you get a whiff of Vanilla Latte, but it does not overpower as it did at first.
The sticks act as wicks to bring the scent of the oil into the room. The instructions recommend that you flip the sticks from time to time, which will make the scent a bit stronger. We have found that this is rarely necessary.
I love the Vanilla Latte aroma, and will try other scents, too. I will not use most room fresheners because of the harsh, unnatural scents, but that is not the case with the Xela Aromasticks.
I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to add a nice scent to their home without the false, chemical scents of most air fresheners, or the hassle and danger of candles.
Customer Rating: Summary: A little goes a long way Comment: A little bit goes a long way
For all the candle lovers, there's a new kid in town. Fresh, long-lasting and attractively packaged, this is an excellent product for gift-giving or for a personal indulgence.
Having a preference for scented candles or incense sticks, I wasn't sure if I would like the diffusion method, but so far I have no complaints. I chose a scent I might like, Vanilla Latte, and placed it in a large area of our living space. Although I was concerned that it might be overwhelming, I have to admit that I was surprised and pleased with the aroma that filled the room, not overpowering (perhaps because of the size of the room), but subtle enough not to be noticed right away. The Vanilla Latte has a mix of caramel, maple, coffee bean, vanilla and nutmeg, a well-balanced fragrance.
I was unsure of how long the scent would last, considering that this item is on the pricey side. But it has been weeks now; in addition, the wooden sticks can be rotated to freshen the fragrance, so the product is not really extravagantly priced. Because this is a glass jar containing flammable oil, some care has to be taken when placing the aromasticks, but a glass dish and a high place are sufficient to keep the product out of harms way (and small hands) and safe from staining furniture. I would try another scent since I am quite pleased with the aromasticks, low maintenance and great shelf-life. Luan Gaines/ 2008.
Customer Rating: Summary: A little expensive, but you can make it last. Comment: This is a potent little elixir (I don't mean you should drink it!). The vanilla scent is great and from what I can tell you can make it as strong or weak as you want by the number of reeds you add to the bottle. More reeds means less scent, less reeds is more scent - and more scent means the liquid dissipates more quickly.
I have had the product for a few months and I can tell I'll get another few months of use from it. It smells great and lasts a pretty long time.
