Customer Rating: Summary: Try this! Comment: This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. It is easy to use, you can not feel it, there is no mess, and best of all I will never have to buy pads or tampons again. It saves me money. It is reusable, better for the environment. You can sleep, swim, and shower with it in. It is water proof. I wish I had learned about this years ago.
Customer Rating: Summary: This fantastic invention has completely changed my attitude towards my period. Comment: Wow! The Diva Cup rocks my world. Tampons have always leaked and/or dried me out. Pads are just yucky and wasteful. The Instead menstrual cup, which I've used for years, is good for when you want to have (mostly) mess-free sex while on your period, but is as wasteful as pads not to mention rather expensive and not always the most reliable (will leak on occasion).
The Diva Cup requires a short learning curve as to the insertion/removal but is well worth the time and effort. The thing does not leak and I cannot feel it when it is properly inserted. The only time I've experienced leakage is while making a BM, but it doesn't mean it is malfunctioning- it is just because of the proximity of the colon to the vaginal canal (I've experienced the same phenomenon with the Instead style cup too).
Ladies, if all this freaks you out then you need to get more in touch with your bodies!
This product is revolutionary and makes me feel better each month because I'm not polluting the environment and I'm also saving tons of money by not buying disposable products. It has paid for itself several times over now.
Only drawbacks are:
a)that you can't have intercourse while you are using it. There's no way around it- literally.
AND
b)the manufacturer advises not to use the D.C. with an IUD (though my personal experience is contrary to that advice. But one must be very careful if one is going to experiment and do so AT THEIR OWN RISK, as there is a lot of suction that happens when removing the cup and I'm sure that it could pull out an IUD if one doesn't first break the seal before pulling it out.)
More people need to spread the word and wise up to their inner Divas!
PS- I ordered the size 2 even though I have not given birth, had only just turned 30, and consider my vaginal muscles to be of a typically healthy condition and it fits great. Good luck with yours!
Customer Rating: Summary: Wish I'd discovered it sooner . . . Comment: This has made my life a lot easier. I prefer to have 2 of them, so I can do a quick switch and then clean the other one. I have another similar product that's made of rubber and not as easy to use because the material is not flexible. Diva Cup is great!
Customer Rating: Summary: watch out for urinary tract infections Comment: I switched from the Instead Softcup to the diva cup. It is less messy and worked fine, but after using it for three months, I got a urinary tract infection within 10 hours of inserting it. I hadn't had a UTI in almost 20 years. I was careful in washing it and my hands with anti-bac soap, but I will never use a diva cup again. UTI's are just too painful. If you are susceptible to UTI's, I would suggest using a product that is not reused.
Customer Rating: Summary: Do not be afraid to try it! Comment: I was anxious to try the diva cup, but more than a little concerned about the eww factor. Surprisingly, I feel so much cleaner using it. Less packaging and waste each month...and less money spent on feminine products.
