Customer Rating: Summary: MURDER CITY REVISITED Comment: I grew up in the Detroit during the 50's, 60's, part of the 70's. i would recommend it for anyone who grew up in that era. i enjoyed the footage shown from that time-it brought back memories. if anything, the makers of this film could do a film on each of the subjects mentioned in the film-it's an overview but it's like you get a tantalizing bite of a topic and then they move on. one topic they mention-the death of a persian gulf vet named riggs. they make his murder sound like part of a social problems of detroit when actually he was murdred by those closest to him-his wife and her brother. that could have happened anywhere and i am surprised they did not mention the outcome in the film. other than that, it was interesting.
Customer Rating: Summary: Detroit's Crime Bible! Comment: Wow! I got an advance copy in Detroit, & this DVD covers everything! The Purple Gang, gangs like the Errol Flynn's, the Young Boys, White Boy Rick, & BMF. It even has stuff a lot of us (real Detroiter) forgot about like the John DeLorean cocaine deal and when that dopefiend beat up Rosa Parks. A great mixture of history, social commentary, and juicy crime stories. A must have for anyone interested in Detroit, crime, or the history of urban American in general!
