Summary: Love Rush like there's no tomorrow, but this has terrible packaging
Comment: Rush is one of the greatest rock bands ever (hello Hall of Fame! Rush should be in the Hall of Fame by now) and I can't wait to pop these discs into my DVD player, IF I don't scratch the discs' surfaces. This has the same horrible packaging as Cheap Tricks' new "Budokan!" box. The CDs are incredibly snug in cardboard slits, all in a flimsy package. No clam shell case or even slimline jewel cases here. Just a flimsy cardboard package with no trays whatsoever, so every time you do get the discs out, they will scratch, no matter how careful you are. It's frustrating that labels keep having ANTI-JEWEL CASE FEVER and keep issuing things that will scratch after just a few days. Bring back the jewel cases, please. Which is worse for the environment, stacks and stacks of these flimsy cardboard/slit packages and the CDs/DVDs they scratch piled high in landfills, or jewel cases in our homes?

Again, I am a massive Rush fan. I just hate the storage presentation in this case. :(

Summary: What a live DVD should be like....
Comment: Obviously, I haven't seen this DVD yet, but I was there for the Buffalo, NY show on the Snakes & Arrows tour. I must say, it was the best of the four Rush concerts I've attended! Even before the concert was over, I was hoping that they would release a DVD from that tour, and they are! The track listing indicates that, as with the "Rush in Rio" DVD, they have included the ENTIRE set. Why more bands don't do this on their DVDs, I'll never know. Rush seems to be one of the few rock bands out there that really knows how to please fans with a DVD. And, I agree with other reviewers...you can NEVER have too many Rush DVDs!!

Summary: Must see for Rush fans
Comment: If the tour was any indication of what the DVD will be like, this is a must see for any Rush fan (even a casual one). The new material will blow you away.

Rush on! :)

Summary: There is Never Too Much.........
Comment: I totally agree that this can confidently be rated a 5 before we even see it. True RUSH fans know it will be perfect. Every time I have gotten wind of a live DVD over the past six or seven years I get a little nervous. I fear that the powers that be will think there is too much live stuff coming out. Naturally there are going to be repeated songs. Anyway, from 1977 to 1997 I never missed seeing them live on their tours. Then I got sick and am now unable to go to the concerts. The fact that they have released a DVD of the concerts I have missed is fantastic. I just hope that continues, after the next tour another live DVD. True Rush fans will never tire of seeing the greatest musicians hitting the stage today.

Editorial Reviews:

Filmed over two performances in Rotterdam, Holland in October of 2007, Rush's new DVD Snakes & Arrows Live captures the legendary band in peak form, performing classic Rush material and nine new songs from their critically acclaimed 2007 CD Snakes & Arrows. The 2-disc concert DVD is presented in both 5.1 audio and stereo, and also included is a bonus disc of four songs added for their 2008 American tour, including "Ghost of a Chance," filmed here for the first time.

Since the release of their eponymous first LP in 1974, Rush has continually expanded the definition of "progressive power trio." Guitarist Alex Lifeson, bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Geddy Lee and drummer/lyricist Neil Peart combine dazzling virtuosity, laser-beam intensity and unbridled creativity to create a cohesive whole that's infinitely greater than its parts. The Toronto-based group has become one of Canada's leading exports, with a catalog of genre-defining releases including 2112, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Vapour Trails and Snakes & Arrows and a live show which combines musicianship, showmanship and multi-media effects that engage all the senses. Following their previous best-selling DVDs Rush in Rio and R30, Snakes & Arrows Live presents a band not resting on its considerable laurels but still earning its reputation as one of the world's best live bands - one night at a time.
