10. Amos cried out in Iraq!
11.Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.
12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq!
13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been

And also...

This is something to think about! Since America is typically represented
by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages... The
following verse is from the Quran, (the Islamic Bible)

Quran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a
fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the
lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair
still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of
Allah; and there was peace. (Note the verse number!)

Summary of the eRumor
A verse in the Koran, which happens to correspond to the date of the Attack on America, predicts that "the wrath of the Eagle" would be felt throughout the lands of Allah.

The Truth
This is a hoax.
The quote is not from anywhere in the Koran (or Quran).
Chapter 9 verse 11 actually says "But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and we make the communications clear for a people who know." (M. H. Shakir translation)

Yep...appears to be a hoax alright.

But you know religious people. They have been believing in a hoax for centuries. What's one more gonna hurt?

very nice. for the real quote if read out of context falls in line with the fact that when practiced correctly under Islam all do have freedom to practice their own faiths WITHOUT attempting to convert anyone... that is not looked upon well.

Chapter 9 verse 11 actually says "But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and we make the communications clear for a people who know." (M. H. Shakir translation)

for this poor tax is a legality with regard to the protection of those non-muslims that fall under the laws as they apply to the Dhimmi.

The Status of Non-Muslim Minorities Under Islamic Rule

Dhimmitude: the Islamic system of governing populations conquered by jihad wars, encompassing all of the demographic, ethnic, and religious aspects of the political system. The word "dhimmitude" as a historical concept, was coined by Bat Ye'or in 1983 to describe the legal and social conditions of Jews and Christians subjected to Islamic rule. The word "dhimmitude" comes from dhimmi, an Arabic word meaning "protected". Dhimmi was the name applied by the Arab-Muslim conquerors to indigenous non-Muslim populations who surrendered by a treaty (dhimma) to Muslim domination. Islamic conquests expanded over vast territories in Africa, Europe and Asia, for over a millennium (638-1683). The Muslim empire incorporated numerous varied peoples which had their own religion, culture, language and civilization. For centuries, these indigenous, pre-Islamic peoples constituted the great majority of the population of the Islamic lands. Although these populations differed, they were ruled by the same type of laws, based on the shari'a.

This similarity, which includes also regional variations, has created a uniform civilization developed throughout the centuries by all non-Muslim indigenous people, who were vanquished by a jihad-war and governed by shari'a law. It is this civilization which is called dhimmitude. It is characterized by the different strategies developed by each dhimmi group to survive as non-Muslim entity in their Islamized countries. Dhimmitude is not exclusively concerned with Muslim history and civilization. Rather it investigates the history of those non-Muslim peoples conquered and colonized by jihad.

Dhimmitude encompasses the relationship of Muslims and non-Muslims at the theological, social, political and economical levels. It also incorporates the relationship between the numerous ethno-religious dhimmi groups and the type of mentality that they have developed out of their particular historical condition which lasted for centuries, even in some Muslim countries, till today.

Dhimmitude is an entire integrated system, based on Islamic theology. It cannot be judged from the circumstantial position of any one community, at a given time and in a given place. Dhimmitude must be appraised according to its laws and customs, irrespectively of circumstances and political contingencies.

just wondering CA. the 19 things you list with regard to Iraq is that fiction as well? or just the incorrect koranic verse? For the sumerian legends speak of Ur as well and the sumerians are said to be the Kurds.

Bloody hell  but you could argue that the eagle is spreading the word of allah (maybe not the correct one; granted) through the reprisals.

ah right  should have read the rest of the thread first

I don't know really. I hear that in the ME women are really oppressed. They aren't even allowed to drive a car in some of those states.

Anytime you allow the government to co-mingle with religion, any religion, oppression becomes rampant. History has shown this time and time again. In this day and age, it is more obvious in the Middle East, but in the past, no nation was immune to this curse on humanity called religion.

In regards to the Quranic verse, there are many translations. I've read alot of them, and they all say the same thing in one way or another. We should not pay so much attention to the map, as it is the destination thats truly important.

BTW, they're called "surahs", not chapters. :)

Nobody knows for sure where the garden of eden was.... NOBODY (except God). And the bible didn't specify whether it was  Jesus  , an angel or a old victim left in the furnace. Looks like Captain America has bought into some major propagandaness. Try not to be a ***** next time.

My copy of the Koran (Penguin, 1956) consists of 114 essays, named but unnumbered. The verses are likewise not numbered. The traditional 9th chapter is called "Repentance". It is 11th from the last in this edition. Though it does not contain the "verse" in this thread, it does contain these words:

"Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. Know that Allah is with the righteous."
