I'm not sure if there is a thread on this yet and didn't see one.
Even at the tattoo parlor, 25-year-old Nathan Gale made people uneasy, staring and locking them into conversations about heavy metal music. But no one pegged the semi-pro football player who psyched himself up before games by piping thrash-rock legends Pantera into his headphones as the type to go on a shooting rampage.
My question becomes how did he get a gun into the show?

Easily, from what i understand it was a small venue. The relatively underground music scene is not very well reknown for its security. Actually the last time I went to a venue like this it was The Metro on the north side of Chicago. Its one of the biggest small venues in the country and I don't remember any kind of search what so ever. I know for a fact there were no metal detectors so I can see how he got in easily with a gun.

I play in small venues every week and there never is any security at the door to speak of. Of course, there's the usual bouncers but you could walk into most of the venues with just about anything under your coat.
I played the Bradley Center in Milwaukee a year or so ago and their security went through EVERYTHING! They checked our guitar cases, heck, they went through it ALL and even scanned us! After they inspected our cases they put stickers on them showing they were inspected. I still have those stickers on my stuff a year later. Lazy me.

This incident is causing a stir this side of the pond too. There's even a big thread dedicated to it on my local music website.
We like to think that it couldn't happen over here, but we all know it could. Nutters everywhere! :(

Seriously? It is rather easy to sneak a gun past minimum wage bouncers... there are several areas on the body that can easily hide a weapon....

Not sure what he used, but there are a number of pistols that could be dismantled & gotten through security. With some ingenuity, I bet I could get an Uzi in.
