With respects to Meatloaf for the subject line :).

It appears Christian Fundamentalist Organizations have gotten the Fundamentalist and the Organization parts down, but kind of forgotten the whole Christian part (http://www.workingforchange.com/article.cfm?itemid=18309):

These powerful and well-funded political Christian fundamentalist organizations appear to be suffering from a compassion deficit. Organizations which are amazingly quick to organize to fight against same-sex marriage, a woman's right to choose, and embryonic stem cell research are missing in action when it comes to responding to the disaster in southern Asia. None of their web sites are actively soliciting aid for the victims of the earthquake/tsunami.

In fact, there is no mention of the giant earthquake and tsunami that devastated southern Asia. There are no headlines about the dead, injured or the tremendous damage; there are no urgent appeals for donations; there are no phone numbers to call; there are no links to organizations collecting money and providing aid for the victims.

Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India and Thailand were among the countries hardest hit by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake, which sent huge waves that smashed boats, uprooted trees and destroyed structures from Malaysia to Africa, the Associated Press (AP) reported. As of Thursday, the death toll had soared to more than 114,000, millions were homeless from the disaster, and many more were still unaccounted for.

The web sites of the same organizations that organized a campaign to block Arlen Specter from ascending to the chairmanship of Senate Judiciary Committee within hours of his post-election night warning to President Bush about radically conservative judicial nominees are now silent.

What say you? Are these organizations hyprocritical for claiming to be Christian while not acting with compassion?

Sure seems like it to me -- but I'm a liberal and liberals have a long tradition of ACTING Christian as opposed to TALKING Christian.

Little brown Buddhists, Muslims, and Hindus are damned to hell, so who cares, right?

 compassion is one of the most important lessons taught by the new testament; quite likely the second on the list. groups which claim christianity are naturally failing in that regard if they do not demonstrate it.

Hypocrisy. . . . . . . .how that word becomes so crystalized, uttered in connection with religion.

Interesting how in more than 2000 years Christians have yet to GET IT. But how damaging it was to remove the 10 commandments out of school. . . . .as though they made a difference.

Maybe some Christian organizations arent "getting it" but they dont speak for all christians out there. My Christian church has already started a fund to send to the victims/survivors.

Obviously you guys haven't been watching your Christian-Fundamentalist Cable TV lately. Fact is, God created that tsunami to punish the homosexuals in this world. Incidentally, the tsunami is also another sign (among many this year, including the unprecedented four hurricanes to hit Florida) of the impending return of Jesus Christ. Why worry about the victims, when good ole' J.C. is gonna be here by...oh...the Super Bowl at the latest! Put those checkbooks away and start prayin!

gangs hold PR operations, but they still rob you when you're not looking and try to get you to behave the way they like.

christian fundamentalists involved with government are especially dangerous because their money interests violate seperation of church and state. not that you have any freestanding respect for that seperation, but you should respect the concept of not having religious groups buy the government into telling you how to act.

fundamentalist groups that do not try to convert others or interfere with outside operations are 100% acceptable. voluntary fundamentalism is allowed. involuntary fundamentalism and being involuntarily influenced by fundamentalism is not allowed.

would you appreciate it if these groups were muslim instead of christian? would you be interested in the ways they pervert the government if they were of a different race or religion? the conservatives in america would flip. however because these are christian groups they stroke their egos and ignore injustice.

beg your pardon

Thats just too funny!
Like I said before and Ill say it again, the only thing between Christian Fundamentalists and Islamic Fundamentalist is.....the 72 virgins. Their tactics maybe different but the end achievements have technically the same result.

Maybe... but Pat Buchanan hasnt spoken yet, probably still trying to figure out the Nazi thing and Jerry Falwell is possibly still trying to figure out which of the teletubbies is the most evil...so we still have time yet. No worries.

no, it's not; as the case with the tsunami and the millions and millions being raised by religious groups around the world shows.

its not hyporcricy... its seems like LYING to me. "We are compassionate and we are good christians, come to our church and we will all go to heaven"
after the Tsunami "F*** you little heathens, even though we have millions of dollars at our disposal we won't give you any hahaha!! burn in hell.. or drown."
