I dealt with this guy one time that said he was a voodoo priest and cast a curse on me.. Did a little dance and everything... Nothing ever came out of the curse though. still weird,, but a funny weird.

Part of me believes it could be "real." Then, I tell myself how silly that would be.

I don't know there is a great many followers of Voodoo type religions,,, in places like haiti and some of the carribean islands,, and many african tribes still practice and believe in religions of this sort as well.. I mean go to certain parts of New Orleans and there is a big sub culture of it. As much as I think it is silly,, I think it is no more silly then other religions.

But since you started this thread,,, what was your experience with it???

I creeped out a colleague - big time. Two of our workmates were pregnant so I did the old "ring test" to determine the sex of the baby. Now when I do it the ring does not just wobble on the end of the hair it pulls as it swings or rotates - it is so strong that it almost comes out of my fingers. Male colleague saw the ring and went pale - accused me of moving it - showed him again and he just was completely freaked out.

By the way - I was spot on - girl for one and boy for the other.

There was this voodoo doll "kit" and I'm half asleep right now, just ignore my response after this sentence. Anyway, hell was unleashed after the voodoo kit was discovered and questioned. The computer stopped working, time frooze, and I decided to take the thing apart and throw it away. Nothing spectacular. Just creepy.

Relax, guys.

My wife is a Baina, and practices a combo of Catholicsm tinged with Candomble (Brasilian 'voodoo') like many of her peers do.

When you get down to it, they are just Baptists with a better sense of rythym.

 voodoo has the potential to be very real, and dark spiritualism most certainly does have power.

It all strikes me as silly superstition, moreso than most, but whatever floats your boat

The only power that these forms of lunicy have is the power of the mind.

the mind may be more powerful than you imagine;Suure! We all have Tesla howitzers between our ears!

With two cerebral brain halves, the human being also has a Tesla scalar interferometer between his ears. And since the brain and nervous system processes avalanche discharges, it can produce (and detect) scalar Tesla waves to at least a limited degree. Thus a human can sometimes produce anomalous spatiotemporal effects at a distance and through time. This provides an exact mechanism for psychokinesis, levitation, psychic healing, telepathy, precognition, postcognition, remote viewing, etc.

Mataj, you have a way of brightening my horizons.

I want a Tesla howitzer for my birthday. Of course, I don't have any room for it in my house.

All kidding aside, while Islam may the fastest growing religion in the "old world" The fastest growing religion in the "new world" is Santarìa and it's Brazilian counterparts Candomblè, Macumba and Umbanda. These are Afro-American religions that are often a mix of Catholisism and African religions. Some sects are more African than European. It is also intersting to note that African priests aften travel to Brazil to study aspects of their own religion.

http://www.stirlinglaw.com/ea/macumba.htm

The African influence, though less, can be seen even in the US black churches. I have often thought on going to a black church that these people are closer to God and Heaven than white folks. When you go into a white church everyone is looking at the floor, with really somber faces, praying like they had just committed a crime, the hymns sound like marches and the whole spectical reminds one of a funeral. When you go to a black church people are joyously shouting to the Lord, they are all moving around and smiling and all the hymns swing with the glory of the Lord. Now that looks like what the Lord thinks heaven should be like to me.
