I invest in the RTS, aka Russian Stock Market.

I was wondering if anyone has this similiar interest or would like to chat about it.

The RTS is a small but stable market. Shares are bought in one of three mutual funds that buy Russia or in ADR/GDR receipts on the NYSE.

Anyone,

I have never invested in Russia, assuming the market there was still too high risk. I'd be interested in hearing more about your experiences.

I'd be interested to hear more too. I have in the past invested in emerging markets. There was really good growth last year in Russia, I heard.

I went back to my old name.

You need some information

The RTS web sight ishttp://www.rts.ru/index.cfm?tid=2

This is the DOW of Russia. Surprisingly it is not always the predictor of how the market will do in the west.

The two Russian mutual funds symbol are TRF, a non load John Templeton Fund and TMRFX a load fund that has a smart manager.

Both funds invest in a small number of Russian companies.

I like OGZPF- the largest company in the world

You need some charts. Barchart is ithe best

http://quotes.barchart.com/texpert.asp?sym=OGZPF

Hard to believe they give this away for free.

This is not a message to buy anything. Best to answer questions or carry along a conversation.

The Russian market did better than the USA market but not as well as Turkey, or India. India is going strainght up for the second
year.

Any questions or comments.

Oh most of the buying of Russian stocks is done in Europe. There are many European funds but those two above are excellent..

I view the Russian market as to where the USA market was in the 1870's.

Prices are set vy low because of the uncertainity in Russia.

That will change with time.

Imagine you are buying Ford in 1870. This is a once in a life time
chance. It may take until the next generalion, though.

TRF up today, while the RTC is down. TRF also invests in Eastern European companies.

My brother in law has 2 companies in Poland. He likes Poland, but not Russia.

It's always best to look at charts. India fund is straight up this year. That tell you something about the future of India.

Try to figure what Gazprom is and let me know. It supplies all natural gas to Russia and the CIS. Putin says he will not break it up. Putin says so many things to so many.

I will seriously consider this. If I have some excess investment funds in the next few months I will have to take a look at Russia.

There is no rush.

There has been one big crash.

Read RBC and other Russian Web papers.

Russia must improve. Whereelse has it to go. The people are educated, work and have pride.

Any questions on companies vs. mutual funds?

Largest Nickel mine in the world is Russian.

UES takes care of all electricity in Russia.

Companies must be broken up. In time.

One the downside is the fact the some Russians view anyone with money as a criminal. Just like our Robber Baron days and Teddy Rooveselt.

While the west is in love with China, I like India and Russia.
