WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Internal Revenue Service is investigating whether unauthorized people gained access to sensitive taxpayer and bank account information but has not yet exposed any privacy breaches, an official said on Friday.
Someone really needs to fix information security in this country. It seems every other week some huge company is loosing tons of data.

Not just that, but the stealing of individual information is common-place and threatens to undo the wonder of the Internet unless the cyber-geeks can figure out a way to prevent this.

This is absurd. Credit cards are bad enough--if you don't want to put your information at risk, you can live life without credit cards. One cannot really go through life in the US without dealing with the IRS (more's the pity).

Not sure but calling them geeks may just slow down the progress. I know it does when we call them geeks here at the office.

I can not think of one person who does not have a legal reason not to deal with the IRS. This is a shame. I do not know why we put so much faith in the Internet.
